msn.foxsports.com/other/story/6434832?MSNHPHMALEEDS, Maine (AP) - A high school basketball coach was fired after telling his players at halftime to reach into their pants to "check their manhood," administrators said. Leavitt Area High School Principal Patrick Hartnett said coach Mike Remillard told the varsity boys Jan. 23 that "tonight's game was about who had the biggest (male genitalia) in town." "He then required his players to all stand up and put their hands down their pants and check their manhood," Hartnett said in the statement, which was read to school board members Thursday by Superintendent Thomas J. Hanson a day after the coach was dismissed. All but one player followed the coach's instructions, Hartnett said. The team won the game. Remillard, who was in his fourth season as varsity coach, called the pep talk "normal locker room banter from Fort Kent, Maine, to San Diego, California," but said he still should not have done it. "Was that tactic appropriate? No. And I'm paying the price for it," Remillard said.

That's just weird. Is this a "guy" thing that I don't know about?

I played High School basketball...and I'm not surprised at all. Some coaches will do almost anything to motivate their team. I’ll admit…this particular tactic is a little risqué for H.S. kids.

Does looking at their manhood make them play better or have they just lost the plot?

Oh, c'mon. That was completely appropriate for the locker room.
They won the game, didn't they???
Ridiculous.

Let's put it this way...when I saw the headline, I freaked out. My brother is a state-championship winning basketball coach....that's all I'm sayin'.

;D Carina.... maybe you should have a talk with bro' ;D iami (who, upon reading the thread title, thought the couch would have asked them to leave their manhood(s) in the locker room, sorta like a coat check room)

;D Carina.... maybe you should have a talk with bro' ;D He coaches the way *he* wants to. You don't win championships and get into the SuperSectionals two years after with a school of only 150 kids by coaching the way everyone else wants you to. He LOVES his players, but when they don't do what he tells them to do, they get a talkin' to.
