OMG..I love my Grandparents to death, but it's been a tough time trying to show them how to use the internet and especially the MOUSE. It's painful to watch her try to click it and the whole page highlights itself. Bless her heart. Anyone have idea for a different type mouse we could use? I'm sure they have something. She just doesn't have the strength in her hands.

I work in a retirement community, so I know what you mean. Many of them are curious about the internet & the computer in general. However, they over click, can't open windows, etc. Painful is a good word! LOL!

I still have to explain things to my dad and he gets all pissed off. It's kinda funny.

dani I've left some links in your pm box
Have you looked a trackball mouse or buying a new keyboard with a touch pad?
With the touch pad you would just have to drag your finger across the pad to move the cursor and tap the pad twice to click on something.
When my mum was learning the computer I got her to play freecell and solitaire so she could figure out how to control the mouse without worrying about 'messing up' the computer.

Can you encourage her to use the pointer, then lift her hand off the mouse, and use a single finger to click? Maybe just breaking up the movements might help. Aw, you are a sweetheart, btw!

Thanks kel, that is what we are looking for.
Carina, It just that they have no concept of what the Internet does. I mean, all that it can do. it's hard to explain to them. They think that if you type in "New Jersey rental homes" it's going to pop up what they want..LOL She can't grasp on to things is her problem, so when she tries to click on anything with the mouse, the mouse moves and the whole pages opens to something and everything becomes highlighted...LOL

Thanks...Getting them to stop shouting out "There it is" to everything that pops up is the challenge.

We have a Microsoft EasyBall. Not only is it super "easy" (it's made for preschoolers) it's HUGE too. They don't sell them anymore from what I can tell, but there are some on ebay... search.ebay.com/EasyBall_W0QQfromZR40And IMHO, touchpads are harder to use than a mouse. My pastor, whom I taught to use the computer, has the worst time trying to lift his fingers off the pad and ends up clicking stuff that shouldn't be clicked LOL Just my 2 cents...
