Here's something I don't get. How is that Sony didn't immediately fire Wendy after she made such a hugely incompetent error? Something don't add up...

Here's something I don't get. How is that Sony didn't immediately fire Wendy after she made such a hugely incompetent error? Something don't add up... She doesn't work for Sony. She's not even employed by Duran Duran Inc (a wholly owned subsidiary of Juicy Couture which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Liz Claiborne), the last time I checked. She and the company she works for are independent contractors with Duran Duran as one of a few other accounts they manage. It would be up to the controlling partners or discussion makers within Duran Duran Inc to choose to renew that contact or not. I would be interested in know if Andy would in fact need a work visa. He coming to the states for one week to do work for a company that still is Incorporated (I think) in the UK (Duran Duran, Inc). I don't know if he would in the first place. I would also be interested to see some other source of this information (web link, etc) to see if the retraction was not just a late April fool's joke.

Going for page 2 by 8pm...... I have a few friends in management, and this sort of thing IS THEIR responsibly. Not that this even had the slightest reason for him leaving. carry on... ...yeah well, dont let a little thing like 'sense' or 'good reason' stop a good flame thread, y'know.

This is on the Times Online site:
Andy Taylor
An article about Duran Duran (Wild boys always shine, Culture, November 4, 2007), referring to Andy Taylor’s departure, said he had failed to turn up for a recording session in New York and had sent a “blunt message . . . that he was leaving the band, with immediate effect”. It was suggested that his departure was “still unexplained”. Andy Taylor’s departure from the band is the subject of continuing legal proceedings, but we wish to make clear that he was unable to get a US working visa to attend the New York recording session because of administrative failures by the band’s management. His departure was not unexplained and he did not leave the band — the Duran Duran partnership was dissolved by the other members. We apologise and are happy to correct the record.
Basically the same thing as the printed retraction, but it's reworded so the distinction between the two events - Andy's departure and his failure to show up in NY - is made a little clearer. Isn't the "blunt message" quote from Simon?

The way I see it is that until all of us are either a) made members of the band or b) given the job to manage DD, all this speculation is for not. I'm quite sure the "real" story won't ever really come out. Not even in Andy's book. No matter what he divulges in his book it should be remembered that that is HIS side of the story. There are always two sides. I will believe the story when all 5 guys are sitting on a stage together on metal chairs (that is if Nick isn't allergic to metal considering his place in the universe) at the same time with only microphones & decide to tell us every detail of the last 30 years. THAT is something I'd pay to see anyway! carry on.....
