I have to take the time to publicly pat Katy on the back. I emailed her about the mistreatment of the disabled at the Boca Raton concert, and she not only responded but, apparently, passed the story along to the band who weren't happy to hear it. My boyfriend (who works with the disabled) encouraged me to email her, but I figured that any email I sent would get lost in the shuffle. I decided to take a chance, though, yesterday, and it was great to have her respond. I'm sure the offending guy was an employee of Live Nation, and not the band, but, as we know, your employees reflect back on to you.
I've been upset about the situation since it happened, so it really is nice to see someone acknowledge it who can work on ensuring it never happens again.

Good for you and I am glad that she got back to you about it. I wasn't thrilled to hear about this when I read about it on another board. Katy rocks!

Thank you. I just feel bad that the concert was ruined for these women. I've heard that the tickets for the disabled row are sold differently, so it's easy to track down the people who sat in the row. I was going to tell Katy that, thinking she may be able to contact them, but I don't want to bother her further.
I'm happy to read it was discussed on another board. That means people were aware of the situation. My boyfriend says that these situations continue to occur because of inactivity. We shake our heads when we see them happening, but we don't always get involved. The guy was a jerk, and the woman with the low-cut dress and her boyfriend who paid for her to get up front were fully aware that the disabled ladies asked to move into the very spot they paid for, so shame on them, too.

Katy doesn't mind hearing about things like that! I'm sure it's MORE than helpful to her to know what's going on at the concerts so she CAN tell the band about poor staffing. As the guys have said numerous times they want the concert experience to be a GREAT one for the fans. Good for you for having the courage to email her and let her know!!
*pats on back!

That is awful! My dad is in a wheelchair and we just purchased tix for the Def Leppard concert in Biloxi (AHH!!!) and if that happens to us, I'll be forced to club someone! ;D That is really mean and inconsiderate of the guard to let someone up there cause of the way they look! I hate the disrespect and almost prejudice that the handicap seem to take and nothing is done about it.

Yeah it was discussed elsewhere that the guard let down two girls with very obvious breast implants and refused the disabled. Absolutely wrong on so many levels. I hope this guy gets what he deserves or those fans are compensated for mistreatment.

Thanks, everyone. I felt weird brining it up to the venue and the band, but it's good to see that people think I did the right thing. Danceintothefire, I'm sure your Dad will have a great time. I've never seen a venue more ill prepared for the disabled than Mizner before in my life, so let's hope Biloxi thought ahead. And let's hope nicer security people are in charge. The other odd thing was that scores of people took lawn chairs and sat outside of the amphitheater. I thought that was ridiculous. If you want to see the band, pay your money. Do you know how much ticket money they must have lost on that? I know that it's good when people take an interest in them, but, in all fairness, pay your money if you want to see the band continue to tour. I can't say Mizner is my favorite place, after this experience.

Kudos to you; that was very brave. Be proud of yourself!
Thumbs up to Katy and the band for taking and interest and not passing the buck.

Also happy to hear Katy and the group did the right thing.

Did they give any reasons for not allowing the wheelchairs down front?
Just wondering if they said it was a violation of fire or safety codes or something.
