That's a good question, Sue. No, the President of Mizner called it a seating glitch. I told him that placing the disabled behind the people who paid big bucks was no mere glitch. It was truly a heartbreaking thing to see person after person sneak past security for a better view, knowing the women, who truly needed the better view, couldn't do that. I hope he gets fired, too, but, unfortunately, all I could give the Amphitheater was a physical description, no name. He didn't even have a number on his shirt, like the security at other venues. Honestly, I expected my email to Katy to just be ignored, not out of maliciousness, but just out of time and quantity, I'm sure she gets a lot, so I really commend her for taking the time to acknowledge the incident happened and for telling the band. I just wish they could redo the concert and have those ladies front and center, like they should have been from the beginning.

OK! I just wondered because I thought there could have been a concern about being able to get the disabled patrons out OK if there had been a fire or something.
If the disabled women could have legally been seated at front and weren't because of bias, then it might be worthwhile to contact the local advocacy groups, because there might be grounds for legal action. Or at least they could give Mizner a hard time about it.
And yes, good for Katy for taking action!!

Katy's REALLY good about answering those types of emails. In all honesty, I can't fault her for that at all.

Sue, I contacted the Office of Civil Rights. I'm not sure if they will pursue legal action against them, but they can work to ensure it doesn't happen again. I told the President of Mizner I contacted OCR, so even if they don't pursue the claim, telling him I filed one may make him think twice about where he places the disabled, next time.

That's great! Good for you!! Hopefully that will help them be a lot more sensitive about this in the future.
