As of this moment, I'm listening to the Stephanie Miller show. However, my current obsession of the moment (though certainly not a flash in the pan) is catching up on the remarkable 10-years-and-counting career of Amanda Palmer/The Dresden Dolls. A very good friend and co-worker (half my age - she helps keep me young at heart) gave me Amanda's first solo CD Who Killed Amanda Palmer from 2008, and I have to say it might be the best album I've heard in the last 20 years. For the first time in my life, I think I understand what Michael Stipe felt the first time he listened to Patti Smith's Horses (on headphones, sitting on the floor while eating a big bowl of cherries and being so transfixed he kept eating them until he got sick)! It's hit me so hard I'm now grabbing all The Dresden Dolls' albums, and everything I've heard so far is incredible. Just piano, drums, and of course that ridiculously original, amazing voice, putting out more power and emotion than a whole rock band on a good night! The last time I was this blown away by an artist was when I saw Tori Amos in 1996 at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor. I'd only recently bought her first album at that point, but I literally went straight from the theater to Tower Records and bought her other two albums and every single/E.P. they had in stock! I've been overdosing so much on Amanda Palmer I've had to force myself to listen to other things just to keep some semblance of control! ;D So, I've also got this stack of CDs at work right now: John Williams' Star Wars Episodes IV and V, remastered soundtracks John Williams' E.T. The Extra Terrestrial soundtracks (both original release and remastered, as there are a couple tracks on the original that were never included on later issues) Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's ScheherezadeSeven and the Ragged Tiger 2003 Remaster - and I wish I'd just brought the original...I can really hear how over-the-top the compression is when blasting it in our workshop. Sounds like SH*T! Duran Duran Live in Japan 1982 Great Audience recording obtained through this site! ;D Rio "Alternates and Demos" CD I made R.E.M. Accelerate
