So I went shopping today as I finally had some coin to get the Rio re-release that I've been wanting for a while, and went to no fewer than 8 stores that sell music in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. The only thing I saw was "Greatest". Yet Bob Dylan's entire back catalog took up 2 entire rows in some cases. Sad. Granted I can spring for shipping and get it on Amazon but I definitely miss record shopping.

The only thing I see is used copies of RCM at Best Buy. Imagine living in AR. We don't even have Sunday beer...

this surprises you? i used to live in memphis and can have a hell of a time finding dd there. i remember having a hard time finding places that even knew about medazzaland, much less having it in stock.
pop trash was the first thing i ordered off amazon, though since they bought out cdnow it really doesn't count anymore as i'd ordered some stuff from them before (first thing was probably passengers, the u2 offshoot album), but i digress.
i think the last dd thing i actually bought in stores was strange behaviour, because i happened to see it at best buy once, and that was back in 2000 or 2001, i think.

It surprised me a little. Dallas has always been pretty Duran-friendly, and it seems that around the time RCM was released you would at least see their back catalog at places like Best Buy. I don't think I've ever seen the selection available this sparse before.
Also, I have fond memories as a teen of hopping from music store to music store looking for rare imports and promos, and those days have been gone for many years now.
