From mountains in the north down to...
Another copy of the US Rio album arrived yesterday and it's one of the rare Capitol mastering cuts with the 3rd & remixed variant of the A side.
Matrix numbers are:
A: ST-1-12211 G-23 #1 ─̶◁̶ Es MASTERED BY CAPITOL 0 B: ST-2-12211 Z10 #5 ─̶◁̶ Precision 0
The original Winchester symbol was crossed-out and replaced by a hand-etched 0. The "Es" tag is definitely cut by Eddy Schreyer, the G-number indicates the Hollywood-based Neumann lathe.
In this pressing, the Capitol A-side lacquer was backed with a Precision B-side and appearently left the Winchester facility to be re-used in Jacksonville.

Probably not very exciting at all, but picked up this US version of Drum yesterday that seems a bit weird -

Well, obviously it's an ex-rental -
- but it's not the standard R399 US release version as the label on the tape's wrong...
(the 2nd sticker's from the video store in Massachusetts of course)
- &, as the only photo for the lot, it's not clear what's going on with the inlay...
...as whilst the front appears to be the same size as the R399's cardboard box, on the left hand edge it looks as though it curves around the box like a normal clam shell inlay; which it wouldn't if it were the original box cut down, as there'd be a defined edge to it - either from where it joins the spine or from cutting the box down.
(the two stickers were added by the video store, as the seller had a few other videos from the same store with different coloured circle & text stickers)
Yeah, just odd - but for 16 bucks inc US delivery & tax then it was worth finding out.

Just had this image forwarded to me by my man in the colonies, along with a couple of quick condition pics of a US SB tour programme i picked up a couple of days ago; as he thought point 3 was kind of interesting & i agree. Attachment Deletedi wonder if they were thinking police, unions or mafia?

Just to update on this, there's definitely 2 US versions - however both came in cardboard sleeves... So the one bought the other day had been cut down by the video store for re-boxing.
So version 1 is on the top -

& they correspond to these 2 sleeves variants - where version 1 is on the left -

Otherwise, whilst the colours are fractionally different - so, esp with the photos on the back, the one without the barcode is noticeably darker - it's only the barcode (or lack of) that's materially different.
Oh, & i'm not stating that version 1 was definitely the first version released - simply indicating which tape corresponds to which sleeve.

Thought that this was a nice little lot of empty longboxes - &, whilst there's a couple of duplicates, fills a few holes in the collection for not very much money... ...well, at least compared to what they'd be if they'd had the CDs in.
