Thanks Lars-erik.
Yeah, i picked up a few other bits from the guy's auction subsequently this evening... Nothing else that was very exciting - some odd magazines, a couple of bits of sheet music, an upgrade for my Notorious 7" counter stand & odd bits…
…where probably the next most exciting thing was the sheet music/song book thing for TWA - though that's mostly as it was only $10.
Just out of curiosity...where do you store your enormous collection? You have so much memorabillia
Always love seeing your posts.
Yeah, it's a pretty ludicrous amount of stuff... …& whilst (mostly) each individual thing doesn't take up that much space, the sheer quantity is completely daunting to me - esp as there's semi-constant stress.
Anyway, atm most of it is split between the little bedroom - which is effectively the Duran room (though there's a small amount of non-Duran collectables) - where there's -
...some cuboid storage for records & CDs & official videos & whatnot - though none of the 7"s fit on it & so are boxed as it was better using that row for larger video boxes & stuff that i care more about...
...some ~180cm high rack shelving which has stuff in boxes in types - & then 3 small boxes high of shirts on top...
…a stack of large boxes with jackets & Drum stuff & whatnot...
…& a deep alcove where there's some slat shelving which covers all of the poster tubes (>120 - where most have several posters in) & large flats - with a couple of the large boxes of cuttings/old scrapbooks on the floor...
...however the stuff is outgrowing that (partly due to poor organisation) & so there's some overflow boxes that don't fit anywhere.
& then there's 2 large (2m high) cupboards in the hallway outside - which mostly contain books, magazines, programmes (in A4 & A3 boxes) & most of the small memorabilia (badges & whatnot)…
...with larger awards & the boxsets on top... …& a stack of boxes with random VHS tapes (not all of which will have Duran stuff on but need checking) to one side...
...but again, due to poor organisation, there's a stack ~55cm high of magazines & a few unopened packages with loads more in downstairs - that don't fit atm.
Yeah, unless i were to suddenly come into millions - where i'd move house, buy/have built some bespoke storage, & only unpack stuff when i have the time to go through & organise/catalogue it (not likely, but i can dream can't i?)...
...whilst i'd like to get the shirts photographed & bagged & re-boxed into eras first - since atm they're just flip-folded & added to the latest part-filled box when they arrive...
...the hope would be that at some point i'll start bagging & boarding the magazines - & by building some shallow alcove shelving downstairs then that'd hold organised boxes of them, it would free space up to keep more of the cool stuff in the cupboards.
Well, as a something & nothing task, i'd like to get at least the official/promo badges into coin collector trays - but there isn't the space to store them that way atm so no point in spending money on the trays.
There's also some stuff that's fairly well organised - like the promo photos/press releases, where it's only the ones that are tied to records/CDs that aren't sorted into eras in folders - where it'd be great to go through & catalogue.
it'd also be good to go through & pull out everything that's duplicated - though i've no idea what to do with much of it as, esp with buying lots, i've ended up with a load of spare copies of things that have a negligible value... …& there's some bits where because everyone has them then they can't even be given away...
…& then long term i'd really like to go through the rolled posters & sort them into eras & sizes - with acid free paper - but that's a job that'd need a load of space & serious money due to the quantity.
