according2g.com/2010/08/an-encounter-with-scissor-sisters/Every time I’ve ever spoken with Ana Matronic, it seems as if we’ve known each other for years. She happily signed photos I’ve taken of her and with her and I couldn’t resist asking questions about her recent experience working with another one of my favorite groups, Duran Duran! Forgive me for paraphrasing this next bit. Knowing that she’s a huge Durannie, I said “You must have been dying when that experience happened.” She said she was beyond dying! She went into the studio with Mark Ronson and Nick Rhodes and Simon LeBon appeared soon after. She was under the impression that she would just be singing a few pre-written lines but once in the studio, they started writing! She said that she had to hang out in the bathroom by herself for a few moments to soak in the fact that she had been given this amazing opportunity. Ana said that she might have appeared a bit nervous in the studio – and who wouldn’t be if you were sharing the space with Simon LeBon, Nick Rhodes and Mark Ronson – and Ronson said “should I kick out the guys?” Ana immediately said “Hell no!” She also said the song is mid-tempo and the track (as well as the songs she has heard) are very reminiscent of “Rio” era Duran! Thanks for sharing those tidbits Ana!

So looks like we're going to have another Taylor/Taylor/Rhodes/LeBon/Producer/Guest album. - not like the Duran Duran albums we've had from 81-04
What is about these latest producers that make them deserve a share in the writing. Did Nile Rodgers get a share for Notorious (the song)? Isn't the producer getting paid to shape the songs into the best arrangements or to sort out the bad elements from the good?
Why arent DD writing together before the producer comes along anymore?
Oh, and, did Timbaland and Danja get credited for simply creating click tracks for RCM really or am I being unfair?!

simon's had writer's block for god knows how long (i remember calling the fan hotline thing for updates on medazzaland's process and i think its delay got blamed on that well before john left?) so it's possible timbaland/danja did actually write some of those...lyrics.
it is insane though since aside from any covers they've done, the songs have always been solely credited to the band.
on topic though...i'm excited about ana matronic working with them on the album! i love scissor sisters and also liked jetstream, the track she appeared on on new order's last album.

Yeah! the music for the original Medazzaland was all done by late 1995, Simon had three years to come up with lyrics for 12 songs! I think Simon really kills there momentum a lot when they are on a roll. It must be frustraiting for the others

He did have writers block back in the late '90s, but why would that indicate he has writer's block NOW?
Besides, he may have been the primary lyric writer, but he was never the only one.

The fact that he hired a professional to help him with the new album lyrics. But he never said he was blocked this time, did he? He was very open about it before. He may not be as prolific or as inspired as he used to be, but why always assume it's writer's block?

Isn't this a case of writer's block, the lack of inspiration for whatever reason?
Anyway, the point I was making does not just concern Simon, but the band as a unit sharing writing credits for every song with an outsider.
They never did it in the past............
