With a true 80's icon, John Taylor of Duran Duran at his house right now. So far he's played me 6 tracks from the new DD album produced by Mark Ronson - it should be out by Christmas (fingers crossed). It's really good, definitely has the classic DD/Rio sound which is great news and is very danceable. Gotta go, we're about to have a cup of tea - what can I say, we're both English!!! www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/photo.php?pid=5130468&id=631559129&ref=fbx_album

For what it's worth, Mark Ronson says it will be out by the end of the year... who knows...

In a way I hope it doesn't get released just before Xmas. Although I'm not kidding myself expecting Duran to have world domination again with this release, it would be nice to release it when maybe it stood a better chance of competing and hopefullu doing well. It would be a shame if it just got lost in the busy Xmas market and got to number 50 or something and then just limp out of the charts again.

This reminds me of when Richard Blade previewed two tracks off of Liberty on KROQ back in the early 1990s. He played Violence of Summer and Serious and then made a comment that got me VERY excited: "This album reminds me a lot of RIO. It's really really good".
So, I take this with a big grain of salt. For some reason I've always remembered that comment. Haha.

It's probably going to do that no matter when it's released. At least if the album comes out before Christmas it can be bought and given as presents. January and February are THE WORST times to release a new album. Nobody has any money to buy stuff, and DD will be competing with artists who have labels, and momentum. It's going to a struggle no matter what.

Stop the comparisons already! Nothing will be or sound like Rio again. And I also dislike to prehype hype over a pre release! Seems like this happens with every new release. Let the music speak for itself.
