Fantastic read! I was around at the time and my sister and I would devour any article or interview that was out there. But reading it like this really puts it into perspective. I knew the remaining 3 had to figure out how to write songs minus 2 Taylors, but I never realized how difficult that was for them, according to Abraham. Interesting comment about Simon's change in lyrics. I noticed it too and sadly I like his old "grandly poetic" lyrics over his "more literal conceits". And no disrespect to Mr. Ferrone, but I remember I really really missed Roger's input. I often wonder what the songs would have been like if Roger had been there. And how annoying is it that the band got together in May to write the album and have it released in November of the same year! WHY CAN'T THEY DO THAT NOW!?!?

Well I guess that's true for RCM. But was Astronaut? They worked on the material for a year or so while they were touring didn't they? Anyway, I'm annoyed that they can't just go into the studio, work for 6 to 9 months, and actually have an album released then, instead of having it shelved by the record company and forced to crank out another quickie. Or like this current one which is still being tweaked! Sorry, just frustrated!

And how annoying is it that the band got together in May to write the album and have it released in November of the same year! WHY CAN'T THEY DO THAT NOW!?!? They have done that the past 2 albums, both made in less than a year. Umm...the writing for what became Astronaut began right after the reunion in 2001 and continued, albeit sporadically, up to and during the recording sessions for the Oct. 2004 release. Since madoldlu was clearly using the beginning of the writing process right up to the release as his parameters, that would make Astronaut's timeline more like 3 years. As for Red Carpet Massacre, since Simon stated in October of 2006 that they already had 3 songs done with Timbaland, and the album came out in November of 2007, that would preclude your "less than a year" proclamation for that album as well. The internet can be your friend if you let it!

Thanks! It's been an amazing process gaining insight from so many people who were directly involved with bringing the album together.

I Think Notorious was a good album, but in my opinion it could have been better with Andy and Roger on it. The band was in such a good shape at the time that it was a pitty they didn´t record that album together. But, well, that´s how things hapenned...

This is Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Really looking forward to the other parts coming:) As Notorious and the SB-Tour is my favourite Duran-era I recently decided to compile and design an exclusive book commemorating this era: working Title: "2 years of Strange Behaviour". It will include everything: from pressphotos, to articles, fanclub material, merchandise, everything released, memorabilia, tour posters, tickets, etc At the moment I'm still in the research phase, collecting all the visual bits and peaces together. I have scanned everything I own and searching the web for anything 86-87 period. This indept project of gimmeawristband would be great to incorporate in my book, an honour even. If there is anyone of gimmeawristband on this site please get in contact with me for possible collaboration. I will also post some requests for visuals from this era that I still miss shortly on this forum. I hope you all can help me to make this the most fantastic tribute book to the band and this era. PS: I'm a graphic designer/ art director who works at an advertising agency in Amsterdam with 14 years of xperience under the belt so I will make absolutely sure this will be the absolute best book on this era EVER! to be continued
