While I agree that it probably won't a huge commercial success, why the doubts that it will sell better than RCM? I have to think that if it sounded more like classic Duran, that more fans will buy it over the number who bought RCM.

I'd like to think the band have finally let go of the notion that their music will achieve big sales and chart success. Based on band comments, I think they have accepted that the money is in the touring and are making music more for the excitement of doing something new before anything else. That said, I think the album has a good team behind it and will generate some good buzz and out perform RCM...

I have to think that if it sounded more like classic Duran, that more fans will buy it over the number who bought RCM. Because quite simply no one is going to care what it sounds like as they won't even know. They simply won't buy it or they will just download it off the Internet. Simply, the only people that will care about a new DD release, are the hardcore fans, no one outside of that cares one whit about DD. Assuming that's true and I don't know if I do, do you think there are only 50,000 Duran fans worldwide? Won't some people buy more than one copy depending on versions available?

If they promote it heavily through itunes it may not be a bad idea to have it front and centre when all those new ipods/ipads/macs are opened up under the tree ....

I don't really think that this makes a difference as to whether or not the rumored release date of Christmas is true or not - but there's now an "event" posted on Facebook (I don't know who started it) for the digital release of AYNIN on Christmas Day. Apparently there are at least a few in the community that believe they're gonna release this on Christmas....

I think releasing on the Dec 25th is going to be a huge mistake! Who is going to buy it with all the other Christmas albums let alone many don't have $$ during the holidays--I hope a single yes-that is different but an album? hmmm-I think they should wait until after the holidays--makes no sense....

andre, with all the iPods and MP3 players peeps are getting for xmas, releasing on the 25th is the work of genius. lets see how they figure it out with iTunes so that the record shows up on the front page. that must cost a shitload of money, but hey! it might pay off.
