Sounds feasible to me...you don't need a big label company to release an album, but having a big company to distribute your release is key! That was the main reason why R.E.M. went from I.R.S. to Warner Bros. back in 1988...I.R.S. couldn't assure them of the global distribution ability that Warners had. Of course, if Duran are going to release through TapeModern and distribute through Universal, it makes all their ass kissing of EMI less understandable and more grating! Maybe they were hoping until the last moment for EMI but have had to go with this as their backup plan...

Fascinating....and yet I'm not the least bit surprised, oddly enough.
I think I'm MORE fascinated by the way fans are insisting that Nathan tell us what he knows. (on Gimme A Wristband) I'm picturing poor Nathan tied up in a chair with a single light bulb hanging from the ceiling and some officer from the Gestapo standing in front of his face saying "Tell us vhat you know!"
Wow people. Get a grip!!!

"As an interesting side note about the “TapeModern” name… In 1999, Stephen Duffy came across an old tape recording of a live Duran Duran gig from 1979. A short time later, Stephen and Nick decided to re-record some of those original, dark and artsy (pre-Simon Le Bon) songs, using vintage analog instruments but modern production techniques to recreate the early Duran Duran sound. TapeModern. Come to think of it… isn’t that what the band says they have done with this new album by bringing in all the original instruments to create that classic Duran sound in a modern way?"
Wow, I never knew about them re-recording some of the early lost songs. It would be interesting to hear those. Also, the part about the new album being done in a similar way is extremely exciting and matches a few rumours that I've heard.

Yup, and it's definitely worth getting a hold off for those who don't have it. In fact, some of the songs are fantastic...just don't expect it to sound like the Duran Duran you know!

"I'm going out tonight Yes I'm going shopping Shopping at the Big Store" What do you expect of lyrics basically written by kids with no experiences outside of the town in which they live? But some of the songs really are very good and you can hear the potential that we already know to be true!
