Mediterranea is a masterpiece and i think it would be a great single. Do you agree with me? Absolutely and most definitely . So why , tell me why , it's not featured on the North American release of AYNIN ?

Don't you mean "NoMercy"? "Astronaut" was merely quoting what NoMercy had said.
Although funnily enough, I agree with NoMercy about it being the best track on the album. If I'd bought "Rio" in 2010 and "Mediterranea" was a bonus track, it wouldn't sound out of place in the slightest because as far as I'm concerned it's got the "Rio" sound written all over it. It's stunning and I got goosebumps the first time I heard it. Not just the "sound" but also Simon's brilliant lyrics, the energy of the song, the middle eight and just the way it all comes together, it's a true classic.
"Blame The Machines", "Runway Runaway" and to some degree "Girl Panic" are the other songs which I would place alongside "Mediterranea" as having the most classic sound (so does "Being Followed" before it turns into a Western movie). The rest contain elements of the early albums but are otherwise a little more contemporary (in a good way).
Some have commented that "Blame The Machines" doesn't really sound like a traditional Duran song but I disagree completely. It does, very much so.

:-XI too love Mediterranea, to me this is the DD 80s jet setting lifestyle song-something that I fell in love with as a kid that made me want to travel (and I did). I too like this one a lot better than AYNIN. With a gorgeous video (youtube not mtv if they even still play videos) this would be a great release late spring (I'm thinking when the rest of you are still in snow while I'm here in shorts in Florida ) So far this one and the Leopard are stuck in my head. I do think its the best true DD recording in years. Not sure if it will be big due to the music industry but a much better job than the previous Nick art projects.

It does sound eighties jet-settery. The closest song to Rio. Although the chorus lyrics make me think of Somewhere from West Side Story.
