not as bad, worse. if we share files amongst ourselves, that doesn't hurt anyone, as we will buy the stuff anyway. this puts it out there for everyone. i confess i do listen, i can't help my curiosity. but indeed, peeps should wait at least until the album is out. come on.

Is a song being available on YouTube really that different to when, 20 or 30 years ago, people would record songs off the radio? (In terms of affecting sales, I mean)
Perhaps I'm being a bit too simplistic, but I don't see a great deal of difference.
(Whilst condoning neither way of obtaining music, of course).

Being Followed hasn't been released to radio. It should not be available to listen to, and I don't understand why a fan would want to put it up before release??

Difference between this and radio, at least the songs on the radio were actually released. These are songs yet to be released. New singles are regularly played on the radio weeks before they are released. I mean, obviously I appreciate that any radio play will be with the consent of the artist/label but I'm really talking in terms of potential sales when I compare YouTube to the old way of recording off the radio. Suppose I'm just playing devil's advocate - as I say, I'm not defending the YouTube leaks in any way.

Either way it doesn't alter the fact that I will buy the album.

Quite frankly, in my opinion, whomever uploaded the tracks, is looking at a lifetime ban from YouTube for starters..
And possible legal action from the band, as it would be VERY easy to track down where the leak originated.

The person (or people) leaking it should be shot at dawn by firing squad. ;D No seriously, in a way the band should shoulder some of the blame for it. By the continuous leaking of material (snippets) they've actually started the feeding frenzy!! Live by the sword die by the sword! I don't think it's gonna matter anyway - the people downloading it will buy the official release (in one format or another) anyway. The band knew that, that's why they're releasing it x 3: download/cd/vinyl. They won't lose out in the end.

..even more so as there's no record label but DD themselves behind the music (no pun intended). One could argue that "oh it won't hurt Sony/EMI/Whatever Ltd, they've got cash", and it certainly won't affect the album sales concerning us the fans. Still, uploading unreleased songs which just the band are responsible of, is simply quite rude.
