The people who want these leaked songs are the people who were going to buy it regardless. It could nine-tracks of Simon and John farting into a microphone, and we'd all still buy the standard edition, the deluxe edition, the vinyl, and the remaster that will be released in 2020. Esp if its the epic 7 minute fart mixed with synths that sound just like they came from Rio.

all I can say is .... It's best that "Girl Panic" and "Being Followed" have radio potential.. Also seems potential for dancefloors to play em. I'll be shocked if "before the rain" becomes the next single.

I don't really see anything wrong with posting them up on YouTube early. I feel it's like Palomino said, like it being played on the radio. I realize the album isn't released yet, but it's not like the MP3 files are floating around the net. YouTube quality is pretty crappy, and it's not easy to rip the audio from the YouTube file. To me, it's really like someone listening to it over the airwaves or making a bad cassette recording.
I've been enjoying listening to the clips on YouTube! And I have every intention of buying the CD when it's released.
I'm also thinking about this as if it were a group that I only had a casual interest in (not life-devoting like Duran!). I certainly would not accept YouTube quality sound as my only copy that I would listen to even if it's just a band I'm only mildly interested in. It's just a way to sample the song. And I really don't think anyone else out there would be satisfied with carrying around and listening to the YouTube quality song on a regular basis. My point is that even if the casual listener were to rip these samples, I don't think they would be happy with the quality if they ended up liking the album--they would hopefully feel compelled to make the legal purchase. And if they don't like it, then the sale was probably never imminent to begin with. Basically, the only sales Duran would miss out on would be people who would have bought the album blindly and ended up hating it.

i remember when albums were being released you'd get (in the UK) a (BBC) Radio 1 interview with the band and they would play a selection of the tracks with the band talking about them -- of course we all taped the interview and tracks but we still went out and bought the cassette/vinyl
i think this is no different to that - the people who are fans or want the proper recordings will buy it- those who aren't bothered won't but at least people are hearing the new stuff and are aware of the new material

Even though some of the songs have appeared on youtube,i will still be buying this album (first day of release).I personally think of that site as a great alternative to radio,i've listened to many bands which has got me into buying their complete catalogue of their music (Bowie,Visage etc),so at the end of the day it's great promo for the band. This 13th album is going to be their luckiest to date, and will give them the credit they deserve.

Who gives a sh*t? If you don't wanna listen to the songs, then don't. The tracks aren't even listed as DURAN DURAN on YouTube so the only people listening to/seeking them out are fans who want to hear the songs and are gonna buy the album either way.

Just my opinion:
Firstly, for any of you getting upset about the early leaks posted to YouTube ought to not ever listen to any of the Duran demos, bootlegs, or unauthorized interviews... or for that matter stealing an image for your avatar.
Secondly, this won't hurt the band. Only us die-hard fans are the ones who are searching out the new/leaked material, and I am pretty sure all of us who can afford it will properly pay for the new album, which is going to be released in just a few more days.
Just enjoy it now. And buy it when it comes out.
