By the way I think 'Before the rain' sounds more like a mix of Winter marches on/The Chauffeur with a bit of Arcadia to it Great track

The album's leaked. It's all over the Internet now. Yup, it sure is *sigh*. Its on 2 different bittorrent sites that I tend to haunt. (and no, I'm not posting the links ) So it has to be all over the place by now. Torrent sites, direct download sites, you name it. No links from me either.

Is this the version that iTunes will release or a more compressed version?
I'm buying the cd next year but would download from legal sounds if they have it as I don't fancy paying full price for something I can rip for free next year.

So it's slightly higher quality than the iTunes version, but nothing your ears will be the wiser of. Also, beware, quite a number of the tags are wrong. "Runaway Runaway" "Leave a Lighgt On" There's also some "audio glitches" in some of the tracks.

can I ask....why do you think Kelis is "out of her comfort zone"? Just curious. Because she's used to doing R&B records. "The Man Who Stole A Leopard" is very avant-garde and I suppose it's like a dark new wave record, it's definitely not her usual musical "territory" but she does a splendid job never the less Thanks again for all the comments, it really is appreciated.

Before the rain is one of the best duran duran songs ever !!. It mixes Sting´s russians with Winter marches on/Arcadia stuff, and the Chauffeur. On My Duran Duran All Time Top 10. Loving "Blame the Machines" too.

Realised in my review that I was a little unfair to "Leave A Light On" - it's actually a great song. I heard "Safe" again recently though and was a little unimpressed the second time round - it doesn't really fit with the rest of the album and it doesn't sound like a Duran Duran song to be honest. They should have replaced it with "Mediterranea" for the nine-track release. John's bass is great on "Safe" but otherwise the song leaves a lot to be desired.
If I'd have to put the songs in order in terms of substance and quality, they would read: Mediterranea (if you count that, it's on the February release so I do), Runway Runaway, Blame The Machines, Being Followed, Before The Rain (definitely the sequel to The Chauffeur, without the slightest doubt, it's ridiculously similar), The Man Who Stole A Leopard, Girl Panic, All You Need Is Now, Leave A Light On and lastly Safe. Every track apart from the last three I've mentioned could have easily come from the first or second album, they really have captured the essence and sound of those records which just heightens the listening experience.
"Safe" is the only track that I dislike, I can't really fault the rest in any way. It's funny because I had a feeling I'd dislike it the moment Nick announced that it had a "Garage" sound and "featured a spoken rap".
Look forward to reviewing the album again in February with the additional five songs ;D

duranfan09, excellent review. After listening the album for about some 20 times already, i agree almost 100% with you, mainly except with this two things:
1) Being Followed's ending. That part is really one of the best things in the album (along with The Man Who Stole a Leopard). That chord change, is just awesome, which reminds me to things they used to do in the first two albums.)
2) This is not just the best DD album since The Wedding Album, to me this is the best album since Seven, or maybe since Rio. Right now is head to head with Seven.
As days go by, i love this album more and more.
