Realised in my review that I was a little unfair to "Leave A Light On" - it's actually a great song. I heard "Safe" again recently though and was a little unimpressed the second time round - it doesn't really fit with the rest of the album and it doesn't sound like a Duran Duran song to be honest. They should have replaced it with "Mediterranea" for the nine-track release. John's bass is great on "Safe" but otherwise the song leaves a lot to be desired. "Safe" is the only track that I dislike, I can't really fault the rest in any way. It's funny because I had a feeling I'd dislike it the moment Nick announced that it had a "Garage" sound and "featured a spoken rap". Look forward to reviewing the album again in February with the additional five songs ;D Again, we agree!!! Safe is the only track that i don't love. I like it, but definitely not worthy of this awesome album. The chorus is kind of silly, the ending sounds abrupt to me, and it could fit more on Notorious, than on this one.

Couldn't agree more about the end of 'Blame The Machines', it really didn't need to change. For me it almost loses its way. The songs was fine as it was. I don't have a problem anywhere else on the album, but I find this odd. But, I have to keep telling myself that they must have listened to it (?!?!) and been happy with how it sounds!!!
All in all though this album is pretty damn stunning!

I don't get the western analogy at all, I started a thread that said the final 1.45 of '' Being followed'' is genius, and I'll stand by that, it makes the track a good DD song into an excellent track.

Seconded! The ending is genius. Takes the song in a new and darker direction which perfectly suits the theme.

I like the ending very much, but I don't know what to think of the lalalalala's at the very end. I mean, this song talks about paranoia and being scared. The lalala's sound out of place. they should've been "vocal shiverings". Or maybe that's what the lalala's are trying to be ?

things like the "la la las" are the kind of weird stuff they used to do in their first albums. There are also police cars alarms and things like that, which I think is brilliant, because it makes them sound fresh.

I dont like the ''Whooah'' in ''Being Followed'' or is it '' Blame the machine '' sorry could be confusing them, but anyway, I dont like all those ''woooahh''. In the 80's it waas the ''doo doo doo''

The ending to "Being Followed" sounds OK and Simon's voice during that part could easily be circa 1980! But I still would have preferred a more normal ending. I suppose it doesn't ruin the song though. "Leave A Light On" sounds better with each listen, it sort of reminds me of "Matter of Feeling" from the Notorious album, especially towards the end.
"Runway Runaway" and "Mediterranea" are my favourites, both absolutely stunning and sound like they've been lifted from Rio.
