Simon Le Bon's vocal problems, which prompted Duran Duran to scrap a series of summer (11) shows, appear to be on the mend - the band has announced a string of U.S. shows beginning next month (Sep11). The Rio hitmakers axed several gigs on their U.K. tour in May (11) after Le Bon fell ill with what medics believed was a throat infection. After resting his voice for three weeks and undergoing a series of tests, he was still deemed too ill to perform and Duran Duran were forced to call off five dates in mainland Europe. They cancelled their entire summer touring schedule last month (Jul11), just days before they were scheduled to play their first date in Dublin, Ireland, so Le Bon could continue to rest his damaged vocal cords and undergo physical therapy - but now the band has announced new dates. The group will play 24 U.S. dates, kicking off on 23 September (11) in Everett, Washington. The dates will wrap up in Atlantic City, New Jersey on 29 October (11). www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/story/duran-duran-announce-new-us-tour-following-axed-summer-dates_1237862

Duran Duran, a mainstay act during the '80s heyday of MTV, has announced the North American leg of the "All You Need Is Now Tour," supporting the band's recently released album of the same name. The iconic New Wave act will begin the North American trek with a Sept. 23 show in Everett, WA, followed by theater and casino stops spanning the nation. The 24-date journey, which features a trio of Canadian performances, concludes Oct. 29 in Atlantic City, NJ. An 11-city U.K. tour follows. Alternative pop-rockers Neon Trees will handle opening duties for many of the performances; those dates are specified at right. Duran Duran revealed a digital version of the band's 13th studio album, "All You Need Is Now," in December, though the physical set didn't surface until March. Mark Ronson produced the S-Curve Records release, which peaked at No. 29 on The Billboard 200 and at No. 6 on the magazine's Independent Albums chart. Earlier this month, the outfit cancelled its European summer excursion due to singer Simon LeBon's ongoing vocal problems. In happier news, the English quartet also confirmed the fall release of the video for "Girls Panic!," one of the lead singles from their latest set. The music video will reunite legendary supermodels Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Eva Herzigova, Helena Christensen and Yasmin Le Bon for the production, according to a press release. www.soundspike.com/news/tour/2677-duran-duran-tour-duran-duran-heads-stateside-behind-all-you-need-is-now/

www.toronto.com/event/694626--duran-duranDuran Duran, one of the top bands of the 80s, have more than 100 million records sold and were considered the forefront of both the New Wave movement and MTV generation, with their popular and innovative music videos. They first found recognition for their song "Girls on Film" in 1981 after the music video, which featured nudity and sexual acts, was banned by BBC and heavily edited for the brand new station MTV. They followed up with the top 20 singles "My Own Way," "Rio" and "Hungry Like The Wolf." The band continued making music throughout the 80s, 90s and 2000s, with their most recent album being 2010's All You Need Is Now.

PlayhouseSquare will host Duran Duran Wed., Oct. 19 at 8 pm in the State Theatre as part of the band's "All You Need Is Now" North American Tour that kicks off September 23. American alternative pop-rockers Neon Trees will join the band as special guests. Tickets will be $45 - $150, on sale beginning Friday, Aug. 12 at 11 am at playhousesquare.org, 216-241-6000 or The PlayhouseSquare Ticket Office. After a brief run of intimate album release shows this past spring, the band will return to this side of the pond for eagerly-anticipated live dates behind their critically acclaimed 13th studio album ALL YOU NEED IS NOW, produced by Mark Ronson and out on S-Curve Records. With performances from coast to coast, the band will play their biggest hits as well as new songs that have inspired many to declare that Duran Duran are truly having a big moment in 2011. With a brand new production that the band members have designed specifically for the North American run, these shows follow Duran Duran's brilliantly reviewed live shows earlier in the year. Back in the UK, the Duran Duran rumor mill was recently running on high until the band confirmed that indeed they had reunited supermodels Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Eva Herzigova, Helena Christensen, and Yasmin Le Bon for their "Girl Panic !" video (coming this fall), which superstar director Jonas Akerlund recently shot in London in collaboration with Harper's Bazaar and Swarovski Elements. One of the most celebrated albums of the band's storied three-decade career, the nine-track digital-only version of ALL YOU NEED IS NOW hit #1 on the iTunes Albums Charts in 15 countries before the release of the 14-track LP earlier this year. Around the album's release, Duran Duran - who have sold more than 80 million albums throughout their career - graced the cover of Paper Magazine and were all over America's television screens with performances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Ellen Degeneres Show (twice!), Jimmy Kimmel Live and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. They also played a very special one-night-only show for the American Express: Unstaged series, streamed live and directed by iconic filmmaker David Lynch.
