I remember this was asked looong ago on the DD.com board: (let's share again !)
What does your spouse/SO think of Duran ? Do they: share your love ? tolerate them ? can't stand them ?
or some other opinion ?
My husband (we're both 43) thinks my passion for DD and new wave is cute, and sometimes he teases, but mostly he can listen and appreciate it. He's more of a classic rock fan. BUT--he does consider Rio to be one of the best albums in the universe.
Sometimes I've wondered what our loved ones think of our love for DD, and how their view has evolved (or not) over the years ? Thanks for your input !

one word : money
She thinks money can/could be spent on more tangible things. I am going to have to do some serious begging for the new shows.

Normally she cannot stand them but she tolerates the new album in the car.

He knows he can reap the benefits of the "after show glow" AND he's a fool to try and come between me and my hobby.

My husband doesn't understand the whole "fandom" thing, and he pretty much just sees it as wasted time and money. He tolerates DD for my sake, and because he does like '80s music in general, even some of their songs. But that doesn't stop him from teasing me about it.

My sweet hubby has not necessarily been a fan over the years, but has nonetheless allowed DD to be the soundtrack of our lives - i.e. their music played at our wedding reception, etc.
His opinion of DD changed dramatically after I asked him to accompany me to a show during the RCM tour. He was so impressed by how the band sounded live, that his opinion took a 360 turn after that gig. Now he's looking forward to seeing DD live for the second time with me this fall!

My wife likes some of there music, enough that it would be one of the bands you'd think she'd go and see them live...however, she can't stand SLB, thinks he's up his own arse, whereas I see him as a self deprecating good guy.

My girlfirend is mostly into fifties and rocknroll/punky music but she likes DD enough. She even went with me to the reunion concert years ago and she was singing along to most of the lyrics and enjoying every minute. My daughter of 7 also kinda likes them On the other hand I also like Prince but my girlfriend cant stand him although she also went with me to a concert of himbut we left early

Hubs tolerates them because of me. He's more of an alt rock kinda guy, we met because of the Foos and he's not much into them anymore either! I took him to see OMD and he wasn't convinced. I'm taking him to go see DD (when and if the reschedule the darn concert), and I don't have high hopes. He's a sweetheart to tag along with me though. And he admits The Chauffeur is a pretty good song.
