I want the main video for a disc to play on my TV. I ALSO want to add it to my I-Pod. Of course, it will also be nice to get the audio for the songs not on the CD so I can make a playlist with the whole show. Thanx for all the advice.

I downloaded DVD Shrink. I was actually able to put the files on my computer from my region free Arcadia DVD, but when I tried to put the ADITM DVD in, it wanted me to change the region setting on my computer, which I do not want to do as it limits to 5 changes lifetime. Will the Decrypter thing make this issue go away? And do I need to have it running before I put the DVD in to be read? Or do I need something else to override the computer and tell it not to check for region? I read that there are things to do this with. I have Nero 10 installed, as well, but have not looked into how to use it yet.

yes, in that case what you have to do is use dvd decrypter to get the full size file onto your drive as an iso file (*go to the menu MODE and choose ISO > read) that will put the entire thing on your harddrive. then you can use dvd shrink to make it smaller without having to use one of your region changes. and dvd shrink knows you have decrypter installed and will offer you the chance to burn you newly shrunken file with it when it finishes making it smaller. there's a dropdown menu when you click 'backup' on dvd shrink.
p.s. when you do it this way, you need to use the file>open disc image on dvd shrink to tell it you want to open the .iso file of the full sized disc. and make sure you tell it to stash the new file in a different directory as it might cause trouble with it having the same name.

I did it! YAY! And it plays fine in my DVD/Blu-Ray player. Perfect. MY friend also bought the Japanese copy and doesn't have a BR player, so she is worried about not being able to play the DVD, too. I will have to tell her how it works.

I may have discovered why Handbrake was quitting prematurely on you. I found this article which describes how DVD's are deliberately set up to make them hard to copy, and how copying the wrong 'title' could cause Handbrake to quit before it's finished. It describes how to get around this. I've had no problems with Handbrake myself and my Ipod is crammed with concert DVD's I've ripped. Good luck, I hope this helps! www.maclife.com/article/howtos/how_encode_pro_handbrake

Thank you for your reply. I found that DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter work well to make sure I can rip without region and shrink to fit. My new computer came with Nero, so I can burn easily. I have only done it a few times now, but it was very easy and I only had one small glitch. On my copy for ADITM, in the menu for the individual tracks, page one of the tracks, I can scroll the marker up and down to select and I can choose More and then on page 2, there is no marker. I can only select to play and then I would have to hit chapter skip to forward track by track. But since I am not TOO likely to want to skip to a single song @ the end, it is not a problem. Even the extras worked and played fine.
