It's the song they did for the Bond film but it was rejected, so they (thankfully) reworked it into the much better Last Day On Earth. It's from an excellent, all authentic but unofficial "fan club" compilation of rare DD mixes/versions called Unleashed. See thread here: Duran Duran Unleashed Preview - Tomorrow Never Dies Thread

i see the thread, i know the story behind the song, but i simply had a doubt it was simon singing and nick and warren lousy instrument play. it says demo and some say they gave finished song for bond theme. so which one is it?

This is probably just a guide demo. It was obvious to me at first listen that it was authentic, and I honestly don't think there's anything terrible about it. It is what it is...Simon often half-asses his way through demo vocals (I'm actually impressed it has as many words as it does - he often sings nonsense just to get the melody down - Bono does the same thing sometimes when developing songs). Now, were it officially released as "finished" in this form, then I would be in agreement that it's a mess. There is an oft-repeated story that Tessa Niles sang on the song, so I'd bet that there is a more polished version (with her vocals) that was submitted to be used in the film (and rejected) and has never been leaked (usually, the further along a song is, the harder it seems to leak it). I really don't think that the band would have submitted this super-rough version in trying to get on the soundtrack. Anyway, it's all speculation as of now. It would certainly be a good "Ask Kay" question for Simon & Nick, as I'm sure they're aware of it floating around now, just as they are aware of the AVTAK 12" Mix!

This way of recording a demo is also the same way Phil Collins has done his demos - a mixture of real words and nonsense.
