Now I am a big fan of both so my point is not to debate who's better but today is Billy Idol's birthday and I noticed this comment over on FB, " Saw him back in 83 when he opened for Duran Duran, and he COMPLETELY blew them off the stage." To any one's knowledge, has Billy Idol ever opened for DD? I've never heard that they have.
I found a source that says he did in 84

Wiki had this to say: Duran Duran
Billy Idol was the opening act for Duran Duran during certain dates of The Sing Blue Silver Tour in 1984. He mainly performed songs from his Rebel Yell album, such as the title track and "Eyes Without a Face", as well as some hits from his previous albums.
In 1995, Idol performed with the Neurotic Outsiders at the Viper Room in Hollywood, California. He contributed vocals on "Stepping Stone", "Pretty Vacant", "Ready Steady Go" and "Fun". These songs were released on the live album Hollywood's Burning.

I have tickets to see Billy at The House of Blues in New Orleans. I've seen Duran Duran there as well; it's a great venue.

fanpix.famousfix.com/picture-gallery/andy-taylor-picture-26151779.htmYou can tell Andy really absorbed a lot of Steve Stevens guitar style during '84. He then put his own stamp on it and played some fantastic guitar parts over 85-88 - Andy's best period in my opinion. You can also here John and Andy listening to Daytime Drama (classic song!) in the Sing Blue Silver documentary. There's also a story that he was asked to sing on the 1st Power Station album (before Robert Palmer I believe).

Billy's new song is a ripper too, pretty poppy and catchy.

Definitely his best material in years. Really the whole album is quite amazing. I had kinda written him off once he released that Christmas album last year or the year before. The new album was produced by the stellar Trevor Horn.

Kings and Queens is great. The album is much better than Devil's Playground.
Steve Stevens also followed Andy by playing and writing on a Robert Palmer album; the classic Don't Explain (1990).
