He was a co-presenter at the Grammy's in 1986 and awarded MJ an award. You should see Nick's hair there at the Grammys - I bet even MJ thought "Who the hell is this guy - look at his hair?!" Michael Jackson was a huge fan of Duran Duran and even rang Nick at his home (when he was still living with his parents) to talk to him. I think MJ even floated the idea of a collaboration with the guys, but it never came to fruition.

Simon said shortly after MJ's death that he he was never really a fan of MJ, never was. He thought he was a great dancer and entertainer and had a soft spot for "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough" and "Wanna Be Starting Something" i know John was a big fan of The Off The wall album and even admitted the bassline from "My Own Way" was inspired by "Working Day And Night" Check it out, It's obvious.
