Well, here's the cliff notes of the kafe:
"Do They Know It's Christmas?" - 30 year anniversary
* Testament to Bob (Geldof), Midge Ure and Trevor Horn
* Rare occasion when so many talented people placed their egos aside
* One of the best pop songs of the era; right up there with "Give Peace a Chance"
* JT really likes the artwork on the sleeve; "one of the most beautiful of all time."
* Had fun that day
* A lot of interplay between the different artists from TOTP, etc. so it was fun to be all together
* Honored to be a part of it
Best of 2014
Favorite Album
*No real album that he liked this year
*Congrats to Mark
*His vote for best album is a compilation of Elvis songs called From Nashville to Memphis. He liked the
early Sun Records recordings but a lot of songs from the 60s he never heard before.
*And yes, he has been to Graceland, although appreciates it more now
Favorite Movie
*Haven't seen many films this year
*Liked the James Brown film
Favorite TV Show
*Totally addicted to Nashville; best TV series about music in his opinion; quite authentic in some ways
*Also watches The Nick, The Fall, Quirk (an Irish detective series)
*He loves TV
Favorite Concert
*Miley Cyrus - "pretty impressive," Eminem and Fleetwood Mac
*Wants to see the Broadway show with Sting in it
Favorite Book
*Didn't read that much this year
*The Glitter Plan is his vote (Nice brownie points, JT!!)
Best Event
*Saw the English Ballet do The Winter's Tale in the summer and "it was a totally mind blowing performance!" He went to the studio and told everyone to go and see it. Simon and Nick did and both had the same reaction.
*Getting back in the studio with Mark and Nile with Mark producing
*About Nile: after 2 days of playing with Nile, his fingers were covered in band-aids. His playing was elevated as a result. It was very inspiring and changed his attitude about his playing and embraced it. "Nile never makes you feel stupid or talk down to you."
*Would love to do a show with DD and Nile doing the songs they've written together on a big stage somewhere.
Into 2015
*"Get the album out and put a show together that is reflective of the new material."
*Been a good, challenging year work-wise
*Finished on a high; 1st level of mixes is apparently done and everyone feels good about it
*As Tin mentioned, his guess is album out in June; still have a lot to take care of
For the Holidays
*Will spend it in the UK "with family and friends, minced pies, the smell of pine trees and gift wrap." (??)
*Not sure if all the kids will be with him or not yet.
