Stupid journalists made this line up, JT never said it, because the Police are a Reggie/Sca band and Serious sounds nothing like a Police track, or a Sting track, and the closest may be Fields of Gold which is still way off.

Interesting article, I really enjoyed reading it. Bit perplexing though. Seems funny how John says "But we kind of got it right this time with All You Need Is Now". That comment came about 18 months after the band had been playing it live according to John, which makes it approximately mid to late 2012. That year there was an AES held in San Franciso from October 26 until 29, which backs that date up. So essentially in late 2012 John claims the band got it right with AYNIN. Good call John, no argument here. But then in late 2013, only one year later, according to Duranasty in a Katy Cafe John was quoted as saying "I think the important thing is that we make a great album, something that impress people, because I don’t think we all feel that way about the recent album, we all got reservations about it..."How do you go from loving your work to doubting your work in the space of 12 months? Answer - you don't. I think John was just saying that because he wanted to hype up the new album. Make the fans think "Wow, the band think it's going to be even better than AYNIN. Incredible, awesome, can't wait to hear it!" Just like when the 'unnamed insider' says that Duran are working with the Lohans just so Duran can attract a younger demographic. Probably just a nobody talking out of their ill-educated arse to make the Lohans appear more popular and desirable to work with than they really are. Moral of the story? Many things on the internet are bullshit. Bands flip-flop. The album they love today they'll hate tomorrow. Fans flip-flop. The trends and sounds they hate today, they'll love tomorrow if their favourite artist starts to use them. Unnamed insiders say anything to get 15 seconds of fame. I feel like Billy Joel yelling out in anger at the end of We Didn't Start The Fire - "Rock and Roller Cola wars, I can't take it anymore" All this nonsense back and forth. I should really spend a lot less time on my posts. By the time I have finished typing this the band will probably be back to saying that AYNIN was great and impressed everyone, that they're all wearing denim next album, and rather than being in the centre of the dance floor, DD14 will be heavy metal and guitars will feature prominently

Like coolbarn said, John is full of shit. He'll almost do things he will regret tomorrow just to sell the story.

Like coolbarn said, John is full of shit. He'll almost do things he will regret tomorrow just to sell the story. Yeah of course, just like the 3 other Durans and 95% of the artists out there. Remember, the only thing worse than being talked about is NOT being talked about. How boring would it be around here if there wasn't some sort of controversy going on? When it gets quiet in Duranland I'm sure one of them lets slip some sort of evil gem to get the Duran Duran publicity machine going again. They probably read half of our threads, laugh maniacally and high-five each other, and chant "well done guys, great job, that will keep the fans debating and bringing up previous quotes of ours for at least the next few months"!

To be honest, the first time I heard Serious, I thought it sounded like a Police track. It's the guitar riff with the chorus effect that gave me that impression.
