I hope so!! All killer, no filler. Save the filler for E.P.s I don't want an extended version either with a video of the band blah blahing about how they got their mojo back working with Ronson etc. Just 9 awesome tracks!!

I'm happy for 10 songs if every single one is brilliant, amazing, and good enough to be released as a single, but that's unlikely (in fact they should have done that on AYNIN; gotten rid of that instrumental garbage taking up space and the weaker tracks like Safe and Before The Rain, but I digress). Nine or ten songs per album was fine back in the day when you could only fit about five tracks on each side of an LP. It made sense back then.
These days it's a bit of a cop-out. With the amount of work gone into it, and at one stage they did have plenty of pieces of music when Roger was talking about possibly releasing a double-album, Duran should have 30 tracks that they have to condense down to 15.
But now we're told they have condensed all these pieces of music down to 13 tracks, and now they want to condense it even further???
If the music is strong just release it. Simon said they have "13 STRONG TRACKS". He didn't say they have 13 pieces of music all of which need a lot of polish, and four of which are below average and won't end up being used.
If they have 9 strong tracks, and four which need work, then say so.
Hmm, Duran Duran, what an enigma. So secretive, keeping everything close to their chest. And even when they do release information you don't know which parts are accurate, which parts are optimistic at best, and which parts are just downright porky pies.
Oh well, keeps the threads on these boards going.
(Of course, once again they planned this all along to keep the enthusiasm and talk going! Well played Simon, well played)

Oh well, keeps the threads on these boards going. It certainly does keep us fans speculating. I guess I can understand the need for caution and secrecy - look what happened recently to Madonna. If hackers can compromise her security measures and leak songs from her unreleased album, then they must be extra vigilant especially now that they are shopping around for a label deal. We don't want a reprise of the Astronaut era leaks (or maybe we do if only to tide us over til July!)

It certainly does keep us fans speculating. I guess I can understand the need for caution and secrecy - look what happened recently to Madonna. If hackers can compromise her security measures and leak songs from her unreleased album, then they must be extra vigilant especially now that they are shopping around for a label deal. We don't want a reprise of the Astronaut era leaks (or maybe we do if only to tide us over til July!) Very true Josefk, but Duran telling us their honest thoughts, feelings, and intentions is not going to necessarily invite a security breach. It's not like Roger will write "well the reason the album is delayed is because we've had some problems making the entire sound of the record cohesive, so we've ditched some tracks that didn't sound like they belonged and are polishing up other suitable ones instead. The entire process could be completed as early as April if everything goes well, or worst-case scenario July". And then a hacker immediately goes "Great, thanks Roger, it's now obvious your IP address is 139.130.4.5 and email password is larry1942". If Duran are going to get songs leaked by people who don't love the band, it's going to happen. Just like has happened every album release since the birth of the internet. And while it sucks for them, and I feel sorry for any artist that loses major sales as a result of "being hacked", a lot of it is blown out of proportion. For starters many people can't help downloading "free" stuff, whether it be music, movies, or software. I know people who are downloading movies 24/7 and they probably don't even watch half of them, they just stay untouched on the hard drive. The majority of people who infringe copyright and download leaked copies of DD14 probably were never going to buy it anyway, just like they were never going to purchase the DVD version of Dumb And Dumber To. A casual listener who has no intention of supporting the band financially doesn't cost Duran Duran any money by listening to leaked music. And any band making the news for "getting hacked" gets plenty of free publicity that they wouldn't have gotten otherwise. While it sucks for the band, and I personally fully support a number of bands that I would always pay full price for (I actually did hear AYNIN leaked before it was released, but like everyone here I still bought the 9-track edition of AYNIN on iTunes, then again on CD, and of course the tour DVD as soon as it was released, and I'll be first in line for tickets whenever they play in my country) everyone knows money is not in record sales but in touring. Anyway I digress. I would love Duran to be honest and forthright when they give updates, and not speak so cryptically and secretively. And then in the future if something turns out to be incorrect, for them to have the cojones to say "well we were wrong there" or "we underestimated that". I have a lot of respect for people who always speak honestly and openly; it's a trait not always found in this world.
