No, not at all redmumba, i think 5 tracks is rather much actually! Depends on how many tracks actually make it on to the album. Either way, five tracks is a fair spread.

Thinking about duran rarities and demos they send to the record companies - there was one for Reportage as well. That was the one where Sony were not very happy with it. Details about it are murky at best - but there was a detailed discussion about it on some forum. Basically, a poster mentioned that he had heard it and was surprised at sony's negative reaction to it. The poster mentioned there was one very strong ballad on it in the vein of ordinary world. But - it has never been seen.
I will say that it's the avid watchers on ebay and eil and other places etc that have been able to get some real nice rarities - such as the tracks sent to the record company in cd wav file format (Astronaut), demos from thank you (Heart of Gold) to name two.
I just don't see this Warner 5 track sampler coming out. Honestly, I don't want it to leak. Others on this board will probably have better examples - but one parallel is the Expendable movie by Stallone. Industry watchers strongly believe that its sales got killed when the movie was leaked. I don't want to see that happen to duran. Regardless of how good Paper Gods is, Duran need things to go smoothly here without having to worry about leaks - especially if it's this new audience that JT mentioned that is in play here. I mean - most of us will buy the cd even if we have the leaked copy. If someone hears Pressure Off on the radio and wants to buy it and they are not a fan of Duran, they wont buy it if they can get the leaked version.

just wonder if duranduranboard.proboards.com/user/1505 is actually a member of Duran Duran. It sounds like a hype from a member or someone in the promo. A rat in forum:-) but the rat lifted the spirit of the whole forum

Those 5 songs have been sent out full stop They are not demos They just have not been mastered and maybe an edit or two for radio may be done No different than an album sampler Suspect like blur / Brandon flowers and muse new records tracks will go to spotify a month out - at a week at a time These are invite only and watermarked / streamed

Mavie works in radio I believe and was able to provide info about RCM and AYNIN prior to the release of these albums. Just check his/her posting history.
Unmastered tracks sound good since no doubt this new album will be a victim of the loudness war.

I have to say I'm disappointed that only two songs from Nile and Mark made it into the album. I'm also a little disappointed at the descriptions of the songs--I'm not thrilled about hearing a Love Voodoo part 2 and a Valley part 2.
However, I did like the snippet we all heard for Pressure Off, so I know I'll like at least a few of the songs. I'm just disappointed because after the home run AYNIN was for me, I was hoping they would continue that streak.

Hear hear mad...old...lu, agree, and I personally am not one for anything like love voodoo either. Wanted more from Rodgers etc like you say, but to be fair from what I'm understanding from our forum spy is that they only did a total of 3 between them so 2's good enough I suppose.
Don't be disappointed to soon, like you say the PO rough snippet is mouth watering, let's wait and see regarding what the eventual rest is.

Sorry, I don't really get how you can be disappointed about an album you have yet to hear a song from. 3 songs were made with Nile and Ronson and 2 have made it to the main album. Pretty good going. Anyway, the third will no doubt feature as an extra on the deluxe version so I doubt we will miss out. Stay positive until you hear the album.

Thanks for some nice words Remember its just the way I hear some songs - everyone is different I cant really explain the Paper gods track sorry - its just epic with lots of subtle changes and very different - reminds me of the way New Religion / The Valley and Sin of the city are kind of structured or change at points - but doesn't sound like any of them Amazing vocals and changes Music def reminds me of Depeche Mode and slower Muse
