I'm wondering if I'll like it Just hope for not too many weird synth sounds. Very worried if it's nothing like AYNIN [br AYNIN was great...but it was DD by the numbers. I personally want them to have moved on. IMO, one of the functions of AYNIN was to get them back on track after the arsery of the previous album. Job done. Time for something new and fresh. It's gonna be interesting one way or another...

Like Big Thing and RCM? You're not selling it to me Mavie! ;-) Agreed. If there is too much like Tempted on there I could end up feeling very nauseous or even suicidal when I listen to it. I'll try and put more emphasis on one of Mavie's other quotes where he says that Pressure Off is simply one of the three 'great' tracks but not killer. Seriously if Pressure Off, Duran's finest single since Come Undone, is the third worst song on the album then Paper Gods is going to be the band's finest record of all time! Of course I will then wonder why the f___ Warner chose to release it first considering there were 9 songs better than it to choose from, but that hypothetical discussion is for another thread

Mavie...vocally how does Simon sound? I'm a fan of the lower register with reverb along the lines of the early stuff and AYNIN (and the chorus of Pressure Off). Are the other songs lyrically more cryptic/less straight forward than Pressure Off?

Newbie here,I am a little concerned about the post of " synth bass" and " drum machines".If not for the natural rhythm section what is Duran Duran?

Sadly, I too am wary if the album is "synth bass" and "drum machine" heavy.

Sadly, I too am wary if the album is "synth bass" and "drum machine" heavy. It really works though - there is lots of natural bass lines and synth The drum patterns and beats are fantastic Its so Melodic and epic Danceophobia I suspect some on the board won't like but is the craziest funkiest catchy gimmicky song ever Pure dance song I love it and would be all over radio if anyone else did it Lohan really steals the show - fantastic

Mavie1 a few things...
Is PO going to radio this week or like you now are saying mid to late July? I even read somewhere where you said PO was going to radio several weeks ago? Which is it?
Also. I think Roger used this drum set to record Paper gods? What do you guys think?

What do you guys think? yea he definitely used an electronic drum kit which might give an illusion of a drum machine.... but Roger is definitely playing

Sorry Coolbarn, but can't agree that PO is "Duran's finest single since Come Undone"....Out of My Mind? Leave a Light On? Sunrise (which I still maintain PO is just a remake of Sunrise)? Girl Panic? But...I will say, we are both thinking this is going to be a spectacular album, just for different reasons. I would have been guardedly optimistic if Mavie had said PO was one of the 9 best...but now I'm more optimistic then ever since Mavue said PO is one of the 3 lesser tracks.
