Just find it strange that they just put the name on the first 1000, and then put all the info on the other 1000. Me too. Plus, they numbered all only after they decided to do two runs of 1000. Which means they waited with shipping the first lots to buyers also. And what about the press release. I am sure it stated 'limited to 2000 copies'. I find it hard to believe they decided to do an extra run based on how fast they were selling.

So the second run of 1000 does seem very strange if was limited to 2000. I agree with Peter. As for the delay in shipping for the first lot, I know I bought mine as soon as they were released to purchase, but I have no recollection of how long it took to get to me. That was many moons ago!

I just wish they would have done Paper Gods like that, maybe with a marbled pink and blue vinyl in a simple style box package instead of the VF box set so it could have been affordable. Each of the sleeves could have had different "stickers" on it.

Okay... I decided to write an email to Ask Katy. I got an answer...so maybe we'll get an answer!
An interesting observation was brought up on a Duran Duran forum in regards to the RCM numbered vinyl. It seems that those that had the vinyl numbered 1000 or less out of 2000 (for example, mine is 794/2000), only the name of the album is on the spine of the cover. However for those that have albums numbered from 1001 to 2000, not only the name of the album on the spine but also the catalog number and record company.
The collectors among the fans are curious as to why that is when it originally limited to 2000 to begin with...why the different covers, so to speak?
Thanks! April
Her reply:
that is very interesting - i have passed along to management, have no idea if it was intentional or not.

A friend has pointed out to me that there is another difference we all missed. Apparently the first run all show a date on the bottom in back (next to the sticker) of 2008. The second batch was corrected to the copyright date of 2007. They were released in February 2009 from what I am finding online and I assume the first batch were all printed in 2008. I would think that even if the vinyl was done then, it should have still shown a copyright date of 2007 for the album, right? Or am I wrong in that? Anyway, they changed the date when they also added the text to the spines. There is no note of any of this on Discogs. Someone who knows how to clearly explain all of this should add that info to the listing. BTW, does anyone know if there are any differences in matrix info? mine are all early ones and sealed.

I have gone back to look and none of the info about the numbering on the spine, nor the differences in the copyright dates has been added to Discogs. Most collectors who are not on this forum will have no idea about this, most likely, unless they have also obtained different copies and made the discovery on their own.
