What would it really take to get "48 Hours Later" out there? According to the excellent Quietus interview a few years ago, Simon stated that it was a classic and that he would failing in his duty if he did not see it released. Or "Beautiful Colors"? Regardless of its chances on the charts, its lyrics would certainly resonate in the current global climate. (Plus it rocks and has the best DD chorus of the new millennium). Is Reportage lost forever as a result of their legal battle with Sony? Or is there hope that the Astronaut and Reportage session songs could be revisited in the future. I vote yes to the roots album. "Pressure Off" should have taught them that they can wrangle all the current talent they want (Ronson, Monae), radio and its awful ageism will never grant them the hit they strive for. Go back to basics with proven producer they trust (Nile) or perhaps a current producer that is less pop-oriented but suited to their sound (Anthony Gonzalez of M83) and turn the guitar back up in the mix. YES!!! to all of this!

Duran Duran, Rio, 7RT, Arena, AVTAK. All come out in what, a total of less than 5 years? Cheese and F'n crackers man! Aren't they done with the tour for the most part? If so, take a vacation; then get back to it! The last 2 albums have been too good for them to stop now. They have excellent producers to continue working with to keep this rolling. And dammit, DD WAS the forefront of every breakthrough in music/video/stage productions to only have 1 BD release! They need to have someone working on Sing Blue Silver and Arena into a 4K release. I threw my back out last night and it hurts like hell, I'm too old to be getting myself worked up over what they should be doing and I'm in a bad mood because I hurt so much so I'm going to stop with my rant now. Much love to my fellow Duranies from Alabama!

I'm happy waiting a few more years. I'm hoping that perhaps they change up a bit and think about putting out a single or two well ahead of a final album. They have already proven themselves by their vast body of work (even though it's slow going) If we get some more great songs it will be a bonus. They also might think about doing residencies in cities where they are the most popular. NYC, LA, London etc.
I still hold out hope for Reportage...

Maybe they'll realize that their days are numbered (will Simon still sound good in 10 years?!?) and try to record as much as possible over the next decade. I'd love to hear three more albums before they call it day...

Fair enough, but can they maintain the quality?

I would love for Duran Duran to be releasing new music with the frequency that they did from 1981 to 1985, but I also live in the real world (mostly), and I know that that's not going to happen. Aside from whatever they do to celebrate DD40 (which may or may not include some as-yet-unreleased material), I'm not even allowing myself to hope for a new album before 2020. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised to be proved wrong than disappointed by my wishes not being fulfilled.

I'd love to hear three more albums before they call it day... I don't think his voice will sour too quickly, maybe live perhaps. His voice sounds incredibly youthful for a man zooming his sixties. Just listen to anyone else his age, or even younger. I saw Radiohead a few times last year and sadly Thom Yorke just can't sing live the way used to. Hell, Simon could eventually start sounding like Tom Waits and I would be thrilled...I love Tom Waits Funny thing is, Simon would use his lower register quite often on the first few albums. He started hitting the helium on the Sing Blue Silver movie and he hasn't yet given up. Helium's a hell of a drug. Haha

Haha He's so much better when he brings it down a bit, as he did for what I consider one of his finest live performances, In Broken Dream. I make no bones about it, I'm ready for some new music, I'm 54, Duran time has more of an impact. Lol. In Broken Dream

Now Duran Duran are at the point where Rolling Stones were in the year 2000. They released "Bridges to Babylon" in 1997 and the next album, "A Bigger Bang", was released in 2005. EIGHT years gap! Not to mention that "A Bigger Bang" was their last studio album (with new songs). Well... the Stones also released two live albums in that 8-year gap, a rarities compilation album, a new best of, and two singles box sets. I did not even look at singles.

I cringe when I read others trying to tell the band how they should sound. Honestly as long as it sounds inspiring to them and to me I'm good. Fans that don't like it should form their own band and record a Duran inspired album to stay happy. I personally love PG. Was fairly disappointed in RCM because it just didn't sound inspired to me.
