If Ben..I don't want to hear Simon girl...time to make an adult record for #15..lol..
I sometimes even hope they would use a new producer to give them a new sound and direction other than Ben, Nile and Mark...

Just go in and bang out an album without any help. Maybe Nile.

I agree that Nile should be involved in some capacity (production, guitar). His contributions to the band's career speak for themselves.
As for younger producers, I maintain that Anthony Gonzalez of M83 is an excellent fit. Sonically adventurous but not too pop like Hudson.
A dream collaboration would be Butch Vig. He would bring the guitar back into the mix and give them an organic sound again. His work with Garbage shows that he is so much more than just the Nirvana/Foo Fighters producer. Also, his work on Siamese Dream is astonishing.

I don't care as long as they're not into EDM or don't tell the band that when #15 comes out that Simon is likely to be nearly 60 (EEK!) so trying to be an EDM star to appeal to the young 'uns or singing about chasing girls in nightclubs is stretching it a bit..... If the producer doesn't tell them, I WILL

I want an album that is adult yet aggressive with moments that are poetic. As far as working with Nile, as much as I love what he's done with DD, I fear he might try to pull them onto the dance floor.

IMHO, the main problem we - as fans - should care about is THE SONGS, not the producer.
Unless I'm missing something, a good songwriting should be the basis of any good album. If the band is inspired in the songwriting, DD should easily find the right producer to give them some directions for the proper sound linked to those songs. So I would not "suggest" anybody, even if a few people have already proved they can bring out the best from the band (Rodgers, Ronson)
I won't be bothered by the band's age for the next album - yes, they WILL BE 60 next time - provided that I hear good songs with meaningful lyrics with the appropriate sound for a live band (raw drums, bass, guitar and a few synt. That's why Rio is still a masterpiece....)

Frank Farian - the man behind Boney M, and *gulp, yes* Milli Vanilli - but a genius... he understands dance-pop; he "gets it" - he's 76, though... I second the recommendation for Butch Vig. His work on the Garbage Bond track also shows the versatility... he'd teach Nick a thing or two about how to produce. Trevor Horn did great on Billy Idol's "Kings and Queens of Underground" album. Great big sound doing justice to the eighties vibe using modern production standards. Bowie would have been amazing... Andy Taylor did a great job on Supercritical... why not?

I've seen a couple of suggestions here that I like. Butch Vig could definitely help steer the next album towards a rock sound, without losing the synth/electronic elements. Trevor Horn is a name that I've brought up in a previous discussion on this same topic. He knows how to make music that breaks new ground and catches the ear. Blondie's last album sounded pretty good, so maybe John Congleton could be a possibility. Nigel Godrich could be interesting.
There are a couple of other names popping into my head, but somehow I don't feel like they should produce an entire album-- maybe individual tracks, if the band records a handful of new songs in conjunction with DD40 or if they want to do the next album with a bunch of different producers. But I'd be interested in hearing something done with Giorgio Moroder or David Lynch.

Andy Taylor did a great job on Supercritical... why not? Loved the Supercritical album, some strong singles that I still love hearing todate. But those carefully placed cowbells that AT laid out on that album - would DD be willing to go for that? It would be sweet though - I would love to hear the stories of how AT the producer told Nicky to tone down the synths
