Of course DD plays more Gigs in the US than in Europe. Why play to 1500 at best in Germany, when you can Play to 15000 in the States. That's where the majority of their fan base is. It's the same story with Depeche Mode, who we're never as big in the UK as here in Germany, where they can fill the biggest stadiums several times during summer and add arena tours through winter. ..and let’s think when Depeche Mode last came to the UK...? Twice actually. In the same year - 2017. I went to the stadium and arena shows. Amazing by the way. But to have that mentality where again, we make it easy for the band. “Don’t worry guys, take your time in the USA. We understand completely that you want to make lots of money and you can do that over there. Don’t worry about us. We’ll be ok without you.” No wonder they lose the fan base. Because most fans will give up asking and waiting and all of a sudden the band are going up stream without a paddle. It’s by the by now - as the band are coming back! I’d like to think it was because of this forum. Unlikely - but I’ll pretend it was. Lol Depeche Mode tours the Netherlands regularly, despite being not that big. They are a live band that fills large arenas. Duran invests nothing in their fanbase outside the US.

I could be wrong but I thought that another reason for touring the States is the higher ticket prices people (not only fans) over there are willing to pay.

I could be wrong but I thought that another reason for touring the States is the higher ticket prices people (not only fans) over there are willing to pay. I think that is correct. Duran can get an audience over here, but not for prices that start at $99 which for the NASA show is commented on as being inexpensive Add to that 21% VAT and that would be €106 in Europe. For the least expensive tickets... Hence my comment on rich Americans. But if everybody can afford these prices then I must be mistaken. Oakey, dont forget the NASA show was a charity show, and usually tickets for charityshows are a bit more expensive. Not sure why you're adding 21% tax though, are Florida tickets tax free?

Everything in the US is advertised without taxes. I added the 21% VAT as that would be added to the taxfree price in Europe and that would be the advertised price equivalent. Did not realise the NASA shows were for charity. What charity then? The US government? For the upcoming September shows I see listed ticket prices starting at $150 for some venues...

Hahahaha that is funny! No not the government but i believe the Aldrin Organisation. Or something like that.
Never knew about the advertising bit though, thanks!
Yes, those September shows are very expensive but that is because some of them are casino shows which are always more expensive and a little shorter than regular shows. Note that DD does not set the prices. It is the promotor or venue.

Ok, so pay more, for a shorter show Note that DD does not set the prices. It is the promotor or venue. Sure, they don't dictate the exact ticket price, but their honorarium does so indirectly of course. And they do dictate that.
