What is the issue? The first two albums were very dance oriented! That is how i heard it anyway. Because there is a massive difference between "dance orientated" and "dance music". The first two albums were "dance orientated" because they were generally up-tempo with a slight disco/pop/rock vibe - AND THEY WERE AMAZING! However Duran frighten the hell out of me when they mention "the D word" these days - if we get an album along the lines of Danceophobia or Last Night In The City then I don't think my heart, or this board, will be able to handle it Agree, these songs sound way too forced and cheesy. Nice ''experiment'' on Paper Gods that didn't work out, now go back to the organic sound with electronic elements.

“We are really excited about the new album, it’s very uplifting, it’s a DANCE music sort of oriented work, like Rio, like the first album. It’s got a lot of DANCE FLOOR on it.” Simon Le Bon I’d love a copy please

Is it 2019, does Simon really want to tell me that somebody will make an album today that sounds like the early 1980s?

"Like Rio, like the first album" - wishful thinking. Is it 2019, does Simon really want to tell me that somebody will make an album today that sounds like the early 1980s? The band do this EVERY album! It's always a "back to roots" sounding record and then they still go ahead and release something current-sounding like Red Carpet Massacre or Paper Gods It makes sense I guess. They know the first two albums made the band and are fan favourites, so that's the sound they try to pump to generate some buzz. It's not like they are going to say "We love the way the new album is going, it really reminds us of Liberty with some Thank You and Red Carpet Massacre thrown in as well"! So I'll believe it when I hear it. I've got nothing against dancing - in fact I do it most Saturday nights. But I don't do it for the music, nor do I hope to hear thudding tuneless doof-doof coming from Duran Duran.

Let's just be happy they are still around and making NEW music... Well of COURSE I'm happy Duran Duran are still around and making new music. We are extremely fortunate to love a band that has been going strong for almost 40 years - how many other fans can say that? Not many that's for sure. We are a very lucky and unusual set of fans. But I totally disagree with you Andre. We shouldn't just be happy that Duran Duran are making new music - are you really saying that you would put up with anything just because it comes from Duran Duran? Are you really saying that you'd be happy if Duran Duran's next five albums were all terrible simply because it's nice to get new music from Duran Duran? Not me. I expect a bit more from my favourite band than just that. If Duran Duran are going to end their career going through the motions and phoning their albums in then I would rather them leave while they're still on their game and have some dignity. Thankfully Duran Duran have never done this But here's the thing - Duran Duran is the artist and I am the consumer, the fan. It is up to Duran Duran to impress ME - it's not up to me to change to be impressed by Duran Duran. If every fan had the attitude "Hey guys let's just be happy they are still around and making new music" then that's a very apathetic and lazy fanbase. If Duran Duran knew that we fans are going to be happy with anything they put out purely because it's "new music" and by default we'll love it then there isn't much incentive for them to push themselves and strive to be the best they can be is there? We follow the best band in the world. We should be the best fans in the world. And that does not mean following them blindly like sheep and just being content because they're still going. We should be content because a GREAT band is continuing to make GREAT music. Not simply new music.

I buy everything from DD, about inertia or habit, I'm a total fan. Otherwise, I can't explain why I bought the RCM, for example, I can't listen to it. But I just can't bear the feeling that I won't have their new record, even if it was RCM2, for example. They are simply part of my life. I also like them because they have not given up and endured and because they are innovative.

I bought two versions of RCM and listened to it...a lot. I know that album by heart. It doesn’t mean that I still listen to it or went out of my way to see the tour at that time.
There was enough in Astro and AYNIN and even PG to get me out for multiple shows. I’m hoping for that at least, or a really great album that really does hark back to the first two. The band is allowed to mine their past, and I think that would be the smartest move at this point if they really are aiming for the HOF.
