I thought this doco (going by it's title) was about the fans from way back, yet it appears to be old DD doco footage with some new clips added !
I had mistakenly been thinking of the fan doco "something you should know" & not this particular doco "there's something you should know".
Obviously I'm intrigued to give it a watch as many of us here would be !
& as ttt suggested previously, there's some Andy stuff is in the mix too
"Getting the personalities to work was more challenging than the music, misunderstandings, pettiness etc"
Err Umm
"Shut Up & play your guitar" reckons a passionate John Taylor
Looking forward to watching it !

Finally I saw yesterday There is something you should know. Disappointment. The documentary was too short for the band's rich history. Completely omitted the albums BT, Liberty, TY, Medazzaland, PT, RCM, even AYNIN. O.K., Medazzaland and PT were not big hits, but they are crucial for the band to work. AYNIN is one of the best albums they have released. There was no mention of Warren in the documentary, but he was part of the group for several years. He helped the group survive the 90s. Andy also did not get a better chance of expressing his view of the group and the relationships within it. I think it was done superficially, shallow. They were supposed to make at least a two-hour documentary that would map the band's history well.

Finally watched it yesterday and I liked it a lot! I wholeheartedly agree that it was way too short and really should have been a 2 hour piece. To their credit, they spent the majority of the time in the beginning phase, through to about Live Aid and did a good job in covering that time. But then they fast forwarded through the rest. They did briefly cover their "comeback" with OW, and the reunion, but really zipped or literally skipped through the rest. They ended by quickly covering PG.
The good: I LOVED seeing them all. I'm getting misty-eyed just thinking back! It was great to see them kinda happy and all speaking fondly of their past and each other. They really came across as mature, intelligent, sincere and kind. The bit with them in their old touring car and listening to their demo tape was great. I LOVED seeing Simon visit his old Church where he was a choir boy and listening to an old recording of him in his youth (and criticizing himself!)! It was amazing! There were several clips I had never seen before, which I appreciated. And it was great that they got Nick Egan to speak about them! I was surprised at how much Andy there was during the reunion segment, although it was all old footage.
The not-so-good: Like I mentioned, after the adequately thorough first phase of their career, they zoomed through the rest. They should have gotten more people to speak about them, or maybe less Boy George. I was kinda bothered by him being in the doc so much I think because he would always trash talk them. And I know it may have been just some friendly ribbing back then, but it makes me think of him as disingenuous and I kinda resent having him as the official peer perspective although I can't really think of anyone else they could have asked. Mark Ronson could have been used a bit more. They had a segment with some fashion guy talking to Nick as they look through his old outfits--I thought the whole thing came across a little awkward.
Overall I really did enjoy it. I'll be watching it again.

Finally found the time to watch New Order - Decades yesterday. That really is a recommended documentary, I already own the So it goes... live CD but never realised that the 12-piece synth orchestra played everything live, all the parts that are normally sequenced. Compared to There is something you should know, Decades is vastly superior (although I liked Something too). They have their own Andy in Hooky, they did not include him in the documentary apart from some old photos and a (albeit positive) mention by Barney. Another similarity between both bands is probably the skill level of their keyboard players
