We're having a housewarming party and I need some food ideas. Appetizers and such are on the menu. Does anyone have any good recipes they can share? I've scoured the internet and I'm just not liking what I'm finding and I don't like to try new things without a recommendation either.
I've already lined up the party basics: meatballs, cheese and veggie tray, spinach dip. Now I need some neat-o stuff and I turn to you guys.
Any ideas?

Skewers of fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes and fresh basil. Saw that on Emeril. Simple, easy and delicious! Pretty, too. You could serve it with sliced bread and olive oil.

Mark makes some slow roasted tomatoes that are always a big hit. He'll be back later and can give you some suggestions. He is the canape king!

Really, I don't even know why you are bothering to have a party in the first place since I can't be there for it.

well, if the canape king is coming, then maybe you don't really need anymore help! lol
we made spanikopita for a party once and it was really good. if memory serves, we were able to make it in advance and keep it in the fridge until ready to bake.
i'll see if i can find the recipe

One of my stand-bys is crostini with boursin or goat chees and thinly sliced tenderloin or roast beef... or you can leave the meat off or use chicken or shrimp... a nice cheese plate if your guests can appreciate that... a nice chopped salad, like a BLT salad... hot crab dip... those cool rings you can make using crescent rolls (pampered chef recipes- pm me and I can send you a couple)... little phyllo cups you can fill with whatever- I made some mini-quiches with them... asparagus and prosciutto wrapped in puff pastry with a little bit of blue cheese... i always make a big crock of white chicken chili if it is not too hot outside...

Was watching the food network the other day and Rachel Ray was on with her 30 min meal ideas or whatever it is called. But she was making these 3 pizzas and they looked really GOOD and easy enough to make and great for a party also. Maybe if u go on the foodnetwork.com site and look up rachael ray's french bread pizza or just pizza recipe's they would turn up??
But the one she made looked really good providing u like mushrooms?? But she just took a loaf of french bread, and a few different types of mushrooms. Sauteed the mushrooms first, she browned the french bread loafs, and then tore out the middle of the bread. Then she scooped up the mushrooms and put them all in the center of the bread and then topped them with cheese and put back in oven to melt cheese. It really looked good and easy. She had 2 other types she was making one with ricotta cheese and roasted tomatoes I believe. But they looked yummy.

An quick, easy and delicious snack. Individual Strawberry Cheesecakes Cut the stems out of a pint of fresh strawberries. In a bowl cream together cream cheese, powdered sugar and a bit of vanilla extract to taste. Fill the strawberries with the cream cheese mixture. For a little extra flavor you can sprinkle a bit of crushed graham crackers on top of the cream cheese mixture as a garnish or a little bit of whipped cream.

Those sound fab guys! thanks so much. My hubby is the cook in the family but I wanted to try a few things on my own that looked and tasted great. Makes me hungry thinking about them and I just had dinner!
