I am not sure why the band and Mgmt. booked 2 shows for Vegas. There are a ton of tickets remaining for both shows.. Are the fans Vegas'd out or steep ticket prices, but this makes no sense? If they want to use the 2 shows to rehearse they could have booked 1 show and or played a small outdoor intimate gig? I am not sure with several weeks to go one or both will sell out? Tickets were as high as $300, but I am starting to see them come down at $125 now. I am not sure they should keep doing this by setting demand so high for places they have over toured on and ignored places like South America, Australia and other non UK locations... www.ticketmaster.com/duran-duran-las-vegas-nevada-05-03-2024/event/1700607CBCAF2630

At the end of the day, I suspect that the band gets paid a set minimum price regardless of ticket sales. The promoter puts up the money for the gig, not the band/mgmt. In theory, the promoter has a business model so they know if they can make money on a booking. They don't always get this right, but I would still be surprised if the venues are not fairly full by the date. The band usually doesn't choose the venue directly and rely on a booking agency to work out the logistics. Vegas also uses other options such as "Fillaseat" or other ticketing. ^ This. For instance, the couple of thousand tickets sold for the Omaha show at $75 apiece is not a reflection of what the band is making. It’s a special anniversary show that the Omaha Performing Arts venue (which has an agreement with Live Nation) is paying them to do, no doubt.

I dont doubt it's a 'testing the waters' kind of thing, to see if the interest is there to possibly do a more long term residency in Vegas. It's gotta be ridiculously appealing to the band at this stage of their career, the prospect of doing a bunch of shows and you get to wake up in the same bed for the duration - no travel grind. But, if they 'build' it, will the fans come?!

I got tix last week for their May Albuquerque show (!!!), and was pleasantly surprised at how NOT expensive they were. I had been led to believe that they were going to be astronomically pricey. DD is one band I'd pay a little extra for, but not hundreds, sorry. You guys are right, though, in that the band doesn't really have a say in ticket prices....but wouldn't it be cool if Simon pulled a page from Robert Smith's strategy from last year's Cure concerts, and demand that Ticketmaster refund some of the ticket price to us ?!?

Vegas resident here - concerts at the smaller theaters at all the casinos tend to be the highest-priced shows for any band, not just Duran. It has everything to do with the casinos. The contract is guaranteed, and tickets that aren't sold up front end up as casino comps for their high rollers. The band doesn't even really have a say in when the show is announced or how it's promoted. That's all up to the casino.

But, if said act can't sell out a small venue and instead of comping which is still a loss to the casino; how do you know in future they would want DD back? I'm sure closer to the date tickets we'll get closer to sell out but still questioning 2 shows instead of 1...plus they have overplayed Vegas for not having a technical residency..

So you don’t understand the idea of complementary tickets? The casino are happy to do it as a loss leader Casinos give tickets to both winners and losers..there are high rollers that win more than they lose... I do provided there is,supply and demand and right now based on demand there is still a ton of unsold tickets for each show: I don't have any info on this specific concert - but my daughter's best friend is involved in this business, and according to her there are 2 ways to get the tickets right up front. If you know someone associated with the group or the venue they can get them for you for free (but naturally get a lot more requests than they can fulfill). Or, you can get them from a scalper at a very high price. I would think you would have to be a VERY high roller indeed to get tickets in the first couple of rows comped
