One of my least favorite Duran songs, regardless of the version. I usually just skip it. Co-signed.

as regards big thing, i put it in my second-tier duran favorites list. i LOVE "land", and very much like "i don't want your love" and "lake shore driving/edge or america," and DYBIS is good too ... i hate "drug"- that f___ing ruins it for me, and a couple of others are weak (e.g. "too late marlene") ... There are a couple of songs on the album I do like, but the bad stuff which comprises most of the album is appalling. I think "Land" is just okay, although it meanders a bit without really going anywhere. "Palomino" is fantastic. I think the album version of "I Don't Want Your Love" is a bit on the flaccid side. I much prefer the punched-up single mix. "Do You Believe in Shame?" and "Too Late Marlene" are inoffensive enough, but they don't really leave a mark.

STUPE!! glad to see you, friend.
anyway, back to drug ... either version is mildly provoking to me in some way. at times i think it is cheesy and poptastic, but other times i find it quite fun and catchy.

I agree with Stuporfly...the album version of IDWYL is akin to the album version of The Reflex. Remixes are MUCH better.
I'll always hold a special place in my heart for Big Thing since it was my first DD album as a full on fan. But generally the album never truly grabbed me...too many ballads for my liking. Some are beautiful songs but too many in a row put me to sleep. BT was a move away from the organic sound of the previous albums...something they've never been able to recover since, IMHO.
YAY! I'm a junior member with this post...whoo-hoo!

I have to say Drug is not one of my favorites.

My favorite big thing songs are probably DYBIS and Land. I do like Too Late Marlene and the album version of ASWI as well.
Drug just never moved me one way or the other. I just can't see why John liked the original so much more... I just can't tell that it makes that much of a difference.

Drug is oke,not my favorite, but also not the worst song,I like demo versions because they are raw,so that version is cool.
But the whole album is great ,i found it much better than notorious, and the favorite of all is Palomino, love it

Not a song I liked, but I do love 'All She Wants Is'. Great guitar.
