I myself love anything by Christopher Moore. Try his latest, called "It's a Dirty Job". It's about a young married man whose wife unfortunately dies during childbirth, and then some weird tall dude in a green suit comes into her hospital room and steals her soul by storing it on a CD. All hell then breaks loose after that. And it's all good. ~Bu random karma!

One More Day by Mitch Albom. A very quick read, but great in my opinion, especially if you are a parent.

I read Time Traveller's Wife but I didn't think it ws that great. I am in the minority there. What did it for me was I read the Diana Gabaldon books first. She has the Outlander series about time traveling. They are labeled as historical romances, but the first book is really the only one with a lot of "romance". And those scenes aren't like a Harliquin book. The series is very well written and are just excellent!!!
I jsut read Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier. That was good too.
Da Vinci Code was good but Angels and Demons is great too. It is the book before DaVinci Code. Great read.
Has anyone read Outlander?

Anyone that knows me from the dd board (justine), knows that one of my favorite authors is Haruki Murakami. (Coincidentally, a favorite of Simon's too - and we've shared/swapped a couple of his titles.) My favorite is probably Sputnik Sweetheart, but I admire them all.
(My first post here - yay!)

Last 2 reads... Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman, a whimsical delight, and Beyond Black by Hilary Mantel - melancholy and haunting. I think Simon called this the book of the year; I wouldn't go that far but it was a lovely book and very well written. Just started reading The Master and Margarita by Bulgakov.

Last books I read were short TV show/film tie-in books (and as such were really short and not stories).
Before that though I read 'Kafka On The Shore' by Haruki Murakami - I quite enjoyed it. I read 'Beyond Black' a few months before that and just couldn't get into it at all no matter how hard I tried. 'Stories We Could Tell' by Tony Parsons was good. I read that around the same time as 'Beyond Black' and enjoyed it a lot more.
At the moment I'm reading 'Tricks of the Mind' by Derren Brown. Not usually my sort of thing but it's facinating to see how all his 'mind tricks' really work and it actually teaches you how to do some of the things yourself. Also, I really like his writing style and sense of humour. Almost makes me wish I'd studied psychology further then AS level.
