i guess it's a fake single. yesterday i posted this on the site: from Teletext.co.uk: Skin Divers, the second single from their Red Carpet Massacre album, is out on June 2. It's backed by remixes from Mark Ronson and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders. link to news [copy and paste]: www.teletext.co.uk/entertainment/music/news/c8bc80ca4768e4893446cb999844ca85/Duran+dive+for+a+tour.aspxand from billboard.com: Duran Duran is eyeing collaborations with two of the hottest young names in British music, the Arctic Monkeys and Mark Ronson. As details roll out for the European leg of the band's Red Carpet Massacre tour, word is out that Duran Duran will join forces with Amy Winehouse producer Ronson this summer on a music project. Although details are vague, a spokesperson for Duran Duran says both parties are "definitely discussing working on some material together" and a "possible live collaboration." Meanwhile, Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders has contributed a remix of "Skin Divers" the second track lifted from "Red Carpet Massacre." Helders and Monkeys frontman Alex Turner are rumored to have supplied sampled vocals to the reworked track. Although a street date has yet to be scheduled, the band's spokesman suggests the single and remix might get a special download-only release, perhaps via the iTunes Music Store. The Arctic Monkeys have enshrined the '80s teenybopper favorites on each of their two albums by referencing Duran Duran lyrics. "I think we're going to try doing that on every second song on every album," Turner told Billboard last year. At the time, however, he admitted, "The only songs of theirs I know are the ones I've referenced so far. Maybe I had a premonition of Simon LeBon entering a dream or something. I don't know much about them. It's weird where that came from." www.duranasty.com

Fake Fake... on Ebay I saw a false 'bedroom toys' cd single when 'Astronaut' was released and some days ago was a false 7" of Arcadia's 'keep in the dark'

Prob. people trying to get more money buy selling something that is one of a kind, but not official. ... I wonder if you actually get what is told. ~ "Wolf" www.myspace.com/ddredcarpetmassacre

Well, I guess you do, to some extent. The songs are there, but they're not official. So...you're paying for something you believe to be official but which is not.

I have bought from this trader before. I ordered 2 cd's - medazzaland demo's and thank you demo's. Both were sold as factory pressed discs, and both of which I already had on cd-r (I wanted to upgrade to "real" CD's). What arrived were 2 cd-r's - although the card sleeves were professionally printed and the "label" surfaces of the discs had been laserprinted too. Still poor though - a jewel case would have been nice. Absolute false advertising - they were advertised as real (as real as bootlegs can be). Bottom line is, this guy seems to manufacture to order. He had a Notorious demo's cd listed the other day, again in a card sleeve. I didn't buy that one (I already have a cd-r myself with scanned artwork). What's the point? Has anybody else been caught like this?

Well I'm sorry but you've got to be a bit stupid to buy stuff like that and think it is official. Factroy test pressings are so few in numbers that you aren't going to find them on ebay very often if ever. Promotional cd's tend to have some logic to them. With cry baby cry, this isn't an album track and certainly won't be receiving any promotion by the band. It is (as with every release) a bonus song for japan. The band wouldn't issue a promo cd for this with mixes. Thats not to say they haven't done but The Wedding Album was probably the last time the label invested money in remixes and promo cd's for album tracks. Unless you see promo cd's for the next single, 99% of the time they will be fake. And you will generally get the reputable record dealers (Esprit etc.) selling them which is affirmation that it is genuine.

thanks very much charley. I am quite aware of that - and as it goes, I get many factory pressed CD's from ebay - usually from trusted sellers though. One thing I am not is stupid.
