i don't fancy them -- i never did as a teenager (when i got into them) i just loved their music and videos-- ironically i avoided saying i liked them because mostly girls liked them and if u liked them as a boy u would be called 'gay' -- then i couldn't care less - not coz i WAS gay but coz i thought they are great and i shouldn't give a damn what peeps thought. i was accused of looking like Roger when i was a kid (although for a long time i tried to look/dress like Nick -- without make up though) but when i stopped dying my hair and had it cut then people said i looked like him (although a younger version) me now:

It's because they're jealous... for various reasons of course.

I agree.... i think most men refer to them as being gay becuase they are jealous of thier good looks and having to balls enough to wear fashionable clothing.... i think it says alot about a man being secure with his manhood when he will step out of the old fashion mold of what a man is "suppose" to look like and do what the hell he wants.... personally i love a man in PINK.... tells me really quick he's secure in his man hood and knows it too...

It's because they're jealous... for various reasons of course. I agree and the funny part of the deal is in the KISS army, Paul Stanley is often accused of being gay. My assumption is these people who say the members of DD (and Paul of KISS) are gay are just jealous.

what narks me - is that in most of these types of postings the fact of being thought of as 'gay' is something wrong - or not good--
people wonder why there is a 'need' for gays to 'say it out loud' -- and i can understand it can be seen as cheesy or intimidating -- but it' just a reaction of positive affirmation to the negativity in people about gay peeps or the word gay being used as an insult

ironically -- an contary to popular belief -- i don't think they appeal to gay audiences as a whole-- they may have a few gay fans (like me) but ALL of my gay friends don't particulary like them or are uindifferent -- and the stereotypical bands/artists that gay guyz go for are Madonna, Abba, (UK band) Steps and many 'pop' boy/girl bands -- there is a club in London called G.A.Y. (Good As You) that is frequented by the top pop artists of the world because they know they have a 'gay following' and appeal to a 'camp'/cheesy pop sensibility -- Duran would not be in that catergory as they are more pop-rock -- although a DD track would not be ignored in a gay club - it wouldn't be the 1st choice either
odd that concidering how straight people perceive them as 'gay' - the gay audience don't recognise or acknowledge this
the 'gay' angle stems mainly from Nick -- it is he who blurred (esp in the 80s) the gender line and in away it was through him that gay people found a straight band that was not overtly 'laddish' and in touch with their feminine side to quote a cliche --
in a recent Q&A session in gay mag ATTITUDE (in the UK) a Nick's scored the highest points EVER in their (comedic) 'How GAY are you?' quiz -- one i think he was pretty proud of
