The ordinarily reliable MOJO magazine made what Duranies will no doubt consider a mistake on par with blasphemy in their July 2008 issue. The cover feature is about the Sex Pistols, and it includes lengthy interviews with all four members.
On page 91, the interviewer asks Steve Jones about making the Neurotic Outsiders album with "Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum of Guns N' Roses and Andy Taylor of Duran Duran."
Can we assume that the names were thrown in later to give context to the question, or is it possible Steve's forgotten who that lanky bass player actually was?

Funny...I'm suprised that he mentioned Andy, or the writer got the name wrong himself. After Steve worked with Andy on his solo album they didn't talk for years after that from what I understand.

Steve wants to work with Andy again and it just slipped out.
So will we get the goss on why Steve and Andy fell out in the new book?

Funny...I'm suprised that he mentioned Andy, or the writer got the name wrong himself. After Steve worked with Andy on his solo album they didn't talk for years after that from what I understand. I vaguely remember Jones using the term "little fuc king thief" in reference to him after the collaboration. Whether or not it was justified, I have no idea; this was pre-Internet days, of course, so the chain of events and accusations isn't immediately clear. The ordinarily reliable MOJO magazine made what Duranies will no doubt consider a mistake on par with blasphemy in their July 2008 issue. The cover feature is about the Sex Pistols, and it includes lengthy interviews with all four members. On page 91, the interviewer asks Steve Jones about making the Neurotic Outsiders album with "Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum of Guns N' Roses and Andy Taylor of Duran Duran." Can we assume that the names were thrown in later to give context to the question, or is it possible Steve's forgotten who that lanky bass player actually was? For some reason, Q and Mojo are incredibly sloppy when it comes to writing about Duran. To wit, a feature on them in a 1993 issue of the former had a photo with the caption " additional guitarist Warren Cuccurullo" (emphasis mine). The latter's review of Greatest referred to 'Come Undone' as a "new song", i.e. put on especially for the compilation. Journalists who don't undertake simple, basic research oughtta shampoo my crotch, to paraphrase Melvin Udall.
