It's Sin of the City all over again.

The latest tragic point in case:
The 'Lame Horse' club in Perm that burnt down a few days ago when idiots lit fireworks inside (under a roof of willow branches) had no fire escape and the main entrance was the only exit. 109 people died and over 140 got injured, many seriously. The owner had bribed officials to get away with many violations of the building code and fire code.

Duran Duran's brilliant track from the Wedding Album deals with the Happyland fire (a case of arson) but it's the same story over and over again.

It's evident: People will never learn.

Kiss nighclub fire

In the early morning hours of January 27, 2013, a fire broke out at the Kiss nightclub in Santa Maria. The club was crowded with about 2000 people, double its maximum capacity of 1000 and a panic stampede ensued. A lack of exit signs and emergency exits contributed to the deadly outcome. 50 bodies were found in a single bathroom.

Brazilian police say the fire began when the band, while performing on stage, started a fireworks display. Many of those killed reportedly died of smoke inhalation.

Colonel Guido Pedroso de Melo of the Rio Grande do Sul Fire Department claims the club's front door was locked. He told CNN: "This overcrowding made it difficult for people to leave, and according to the information we have, the security guards trapped the victims inside."
