Blank. I actually remember you from the DD.com message board. You insulted me a bunch of times over there too although I'm sure you probably don't remember.
But you are right, the more the merrier - so I think I'll start posting a little more often.

Everyone should be comfortable posting here, regardless of what their opinion is on old stuff/new stuff/etc. A very wise author once told me that you have to remember that whenever you're putting yourself out there (whether it's a post, a blog or a book) - there's going to be at least ONE person out there who agrees with you, whether they actually say so or not. The point isn't whether or not you're "right" or "wrong" about something - the point is being comfortable enough with your words to share. Yeah, some people might really get down on you for saying what you think - but so what? It's all good in the end. Don't stop posting! As for your stages - I don't have that particular feeling about this album (especially since I haven't heard it yet) - but I did have that feeling about RCM, especially after I heard the whole thing. It was a tough time for me to be a fan of the band. I wanted to like the album, but for me it just wasn't my thing. I spent a lot of time talking about how much it sucked, and in hindsight - it was a lot of wasted time on my part and it did nothing but make me feel even worse about something that probably wasn't THAT bad overall. I don't know.... Oh well, it's all therapy I guess. LOLOL

I don't think you should stop posting. That's just silly. I don't really see any "flaming" here even by Blank. If you were on the old board there should be no shock that you may have gotten an alternate opinion from anyone! ;D There are very few times I "flame" and those who know me know when it usually occurs!! ;D If people post things on a board they should expect to have differing opinions posted. I certainly did not post my alternate opinion to yours in a "flaming" manner. If you took it that way then it was taken wrongly. Everyone is going to look at what Duran is or is not doing differently! ;D
Don't stop posting. You have just as much right as anyone else to post.

I think my reactions to new albums have changed over time...when I first got into Duran (maybe a few years before Pop Trash), I loved it all, and enjoyed discovering the old albums. Old, new, in between...I didn't care, it was all great. After the reunion, I was somewhat underwhelmed by Astronaut and largely dismissed RCM. I'm more excited/hopeful for this album, but not jumping out of my chair or anything. So...I guess I'd fit into the 7 stages camp! I'm hoping a few songs will get stuck in my head.

I was just trying to have a little fun. Why does everyone always have to get so nasty around here? I thought we were all friends. Sigh. Get used to it... Unfortunately some people have no sense of humour and take every little thing way too seriously... I immediately understood you were joking... What to do?

Ok. I've started into the 7 stages of a new Duran Album: 1) - Shock or Disbelief - "I can't believe it! They've done it! They have finally captured their classic sound! All is finally well in the land of Duran again!" 2) - Denial - "No. I'm not getting bored of these two tracks (Mediterranea and AYNIN) as I listen to them more and more. No. This is not going to be just like Astronaut. I'm still going to listen to this album more than a month after purchasing it." 3) - Anger - "Crap! Why doesn't JT's bass stand out like it used to? What's with all the distortion and over-production? Not again!" 4) - Bargaining - "OK. I know Astronaut and RCM weren't great... but after I hear a few tracks live they will grow on me...(ex: Nice and The Valley) 5) - Guilt - "I'm a terrible fan. I went on the DD message board and said that deep inside I'm not thrilled so far with the new material. People are going to trash me and I somehow I deserve it. I didn't even hear the whole album yet. Maybe it's too soon for me to judge." 6) - Depression - "This time really may be it. If this one tanks, what will the future hold for DD? This time they really may have to pack it in." 7) - Acceptance - "Well, at least I'll get to hear 'Save a Prayer' live on tour a few more times. That's something to look forward to." Be honest with me. Does anyone feel a little bit like this right about now? I only agree with you on point 1) Is a pitty you feel ashamed by Duran Duran. I'm sorry to hear that.

Each album has been different than the last. That is one of the main reasons I like Duran Duran. The new album may remind us of the earlier albums but this is brand new. Give it a chance.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Sorry for being too sensitive. Besides, the new tracks are starting to grow on me more and more and I'm feeling a little better about the whole thing.
I guess I just always think back to when I heard Come Undone and Ordinary World the 1st time and how much I instantly loved them.

I hope the tracks do grow on you as time goes on. There are still songs that I really didn't care for at all when I was younger that I really enjoy now. (such as Tel Aviv - I was 11 or 12 when I first heard that, and at that point - I had no love for an instrumental. Now I really appreciate the beauty of that song.) Conversely, there are songs that I really loved as a kid that I'm completely over....like Hungry Like the Wolf.
