Anyway, on topic, I am encouraged by hearing that Dom's playing on the album has captured something of the "Andy" era, despite A.T.'s apparently bland, indistiguishable style (there, that was nice and non-personal ;D). Considering that, IMO, the golden era (OK, maybe the "most golden" era as they've had other moments of glory) of the early to mid '80s was defined by a wonderful tension between all the unique tastes, influences, and style of the original five, with the sounds alternately pushing against and pulling together with the others, I'm hoping for a return to that as much as anything. Also, even as an "Andy fan," I have no problem with the clear recogniton that Warren had more purely technical skill. That said, Andy had more feel and stage presence (and as a relatively accomplished guitar player myself, I can tell you that some of his Power Station and solo stuff is not much easier to play than Warren's stuff - easier yes, but not by as much as many might think). I personally feel that Dom has neither the toolbox of Warren nor the stage presence of Andy, but that doesn't mean he can't be the right guy for Duran Duran at this point in their career...he has his fans, he knows his way around the guitar, the band seem to genuinely like him, and I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised by his work on the new album (and hopefully tour, as I've never seen him live - well, in person that is, as opposed to on video). In other words, I'm rooting for him!

I believe the intro to AYNIN is not Nick's synth but Dom playing guitar through a sequencer which gives it that distorted sound.
