Marchmadness, the ones I hate are anyone taking advantage of the system, whether it's someone on welfare having kids I pay for, or corporations getting tax breaks to send jobs overseas. Those people I hate with a passion. Anyone else I don't hate I just may disagree. Btw, I am a big believer in personal responsibilty. I think this idea of relying on government in many cases needs to stop.
Regarding that article mentioning about welfare fraud is very left leaning. Maybe it's just me (or my state) but the majority of people I knew on welfare frauded the system. I would see people in stores also frauding the system, like last year I saw a woman trying to buy electronics with a Link Card.

Alternet is a left wing progressive organization. I don't like to get news from a left or right leaning organization (I think Fox is full of it too). Any group that has a bias will slant it towards their view.
ETA: Just so people don't think I am attacking Alternet I'd feel the same if someone posted Fox News too. It's better to post info without an obvious bias either way.

I'll give you credit for using that term, the only one which neo-fascist talking points can't brainwash people into sh*ting on, like "liberal," and, well, "left" (that one was used from the beginning to be negative politically). Left has had negative conotations for centuries, from the bible to many languages (in Latin, the word for "left" is sinister, which has come into English meaning "evil." The French word for "left" is gauche, which in English means "awkward" or "tactless." The English word left comes from the Old English left, meaning "weak." From this great page), BUT... To compare Alternet to Fox is so laughable that I don't know whether to, well, laugh, facepalm, or hit my head against my desk slowly but firmly over and over. You can either work to move society forward (progressive), keep it in stasis (the "middle"), which, from a quick look around, doesn't seem like too good of an idea, does it?, or move it backwards (regressive), to Theocracy, Oligarchy, Plutocracy, Feudalism, whatever you want to call it...to the time when "those people knew their place" or maybe to a time when "those people" weren't even considered human. This stuff isn't rocket science.

Fox is more powerful, but anytime a group has an agenda then a bias is a bias. Alternet is run by the former publisher of Mother Jones, hardly a right wing paper.
As for progressive, some progression is needed. For instance there is less racism and sexism in the workplace but those areas still need work (and so does racism and sexism in general). However other parts of progressive are destructive to society as are parts of some right wing talking points. So I believe that both sides are wrong.

Just what I was talking about errbt. You are not smarter than us because you feel you know something we don't. I feel I know something you don't because I have actually looked into progressivism, leftists, etc. I fully understand what they're about, but I'm not posting pictures of head banging and people being overly frustrated, though I'm probably just as frustrated as you knowing what I know and you refusing to see it. I say refusing-not too stupid to see it. There's a difference. I don't treat others like that.

What has the Tea Party done that has offended you so much? You don't seem like the type of person to dislike a group without reason. Just hoping to understand your pov concerning them. ETA: Go Cain!! Not all tea party people offend me but the more racist ones who are bringing up the birth certificate, etc. Those particular tea party people bug me. Now the ones concerned with fiscal matters (the original tea party people)don't bother me at all, and I suspect I'd like most of them. I've discussed this with someone who actually is big in the tea party (yes I like many personally as well)and he said the more radical were put there by spies so to speak so perhaps he is right. I live in an area with a lot of radical rightwingers. Most of them have Confederate flags on their houses or wear shirts, etc. They also make racist comments. These particular people bother me with their racist comments. I don't think one is racist because someone dislikes Obama but if they follow it with the n word it disturbs me. Ironically, I used to live in a leftwing area and it made me despise the hard left too. Busy day...didn't mean to ask you a question then not respond. I don't think Tea Partyers are much into the birth certificate thing. Those are birthers, which are different from the TP. Oh and the more radical-I don't believe are true TP members. Some people are just naturally over the top-which you'll find in every group, and some have been shown to be big union members sent to make the Tea Party look bad to the media. Generally speaking, TP members are sane people who are not racist and want our country to prosper. I agree it's totally wrong to dislike Obama because of his race. If someone brings that issue up with me I'm pretty much done talking to them. How can you have a reasonable conversation with someone like that? I can also see where living around radicals of any nature can turn you against them. Just know that most conservatives are not radical and most TP members aren't either. I keep in mind that most liberals aren't. I don't hold someone's views against them unless they're totally out there, racist, anti-American, etc. I'm not here to defend the Tea Party, but I do feel they've gotten a bad rap because the administration feels threatened by them and therefore the media is going to try to discredit them in any means possible. I'm just so so tired of the media playing politics. That isn't their job! It's so hard to find fair reporting and it's sickening.

Your (probably religiously fueled) need to delude yourself into believing this "holier than thou" crap and "I never lash out at others because I disagree with them" bs is laughable to those of us who've watched you post in these (and only these) types of threads over the last couple years. "What you know" would appear to be a smattering of Fox News and Tea Party talking points (and an easily debunked ones at that), with, occasionally, some of your own actual input (which, to your credit, has become less vitriolic and more thoughtful recently). ps This one's just for you:

I'm just so so tired of the media playing politics. That isn't their job! It's so hard to find fair reporting and it's sickening. That could be true and that is something someone I know who is a true tea party person told me. Sort of reminds me of how the government was trying to get into left wing groups in the 60's. Like I said the more fiscally conservative people are ones I support because both parties are way too fiscally liberal. Both extremes to me are dangerous. I'm a big believer in doing what someone chooses to do as long as I don't hurt someone. However, the extreme on both sides oppose this. The extremes are more alike than different because they want others to be forced to believe their agenda. I think that's why I prefer to be independent thinking instead of left or right. Where I currentlylive I deal with a lot of the racist people who call Obama racist names and to me it's unacceptable and I ignore them. I definitely don't think it's all Republicans and the more racist people could possibly not other groups besides tea party. I don't think being racist is just one side because I know many Democrats who are very racist. I completely understand about being busy. I'm trying to learn several new skills in 2 weeks for work so I've been doing it non stop.
