It's due out next week, November 21, so I'm holding out listening to it! She's been getting some really good press about it and everything I've read so far has been positive. Can't wait til next week!
I LOVE Kate Bush! She and Duran are the top of my list.

ARGH! I've been reading people's feedback for the album and the anticipation is killing me! But I really don't have the time to give it the proper attention it deserves. I don't want to just have it on in the background as I do my work. I want to be able to sit in a quite environment and leaf through the CD booklet and take it all in--just like I do with my Duran music on first listens.
I really don't know what to expect. I did listen to the cut of Wild Man that was released about a month ago, and that was great. I liked that better as a lead single than I did King of the Mountain for Aerial. So that's already one step ahead.

I've been listening to the album since it came out. It really requires you to take the time and truly listen. It took a bit of time to get a full grasp of the songs, because most of them are over 8 minutes long. But once you do, you are treated with a wonderful experience.
I've come to really love Misty. Simply breathtaking. How can you not be taken in by the story of a woman spending the night with a snowman that came to life? The length of the song (13 and a half minutes!) doesn't bother me at all anymore. I really get on that long journey when it comes on, and enjoy every last bit of it. Same with Lake Tahoe. Such a lovely song about a woman and her dog. Sweet, yet gothic and dark. Snowflake, which features her pre-voice change son, is beautiful and delicate.
50 Words and Wild Man are awesome. They're the two upbeat funky ones in the bunch. And Among Angels is a very good piano ballad that appropriately closes the album.
The only song I can't bring myself to listen to Snowed In, her duet with Elton John. His voice just seems totally wrong for the song. I'm gonna need some real time (like a year) before I can give it another chance. I tried listening to it many many times within the album, and the experience would always come to a screeching halt with that song.
Overall it's a great, solid album, but I can understand it is not very accessible to the general public. It's not the kind that grabs you right away. You really have to commit the time and attention. The first 3 songs, which together last over 30 minutes, are all very slow and sound similar in that they are all piano-based. So in the beginning they tended to all blend together.
I would rank it below Aerial, but only just. They are definitely cut from the same cloth.
