The previous song that was on our Soundcloud page was just a rough demo, however this is the first finished track from a compilation of instrumental music that we intend to release at the end of 2012, if all goes well. This particular song is a homage to early Simple Minds, specifically the sound of Sons & Fascination / New Gold Dream. Hope people like it, any comments / constructive criticism would be most welcome. soundcloud.com/faded-print/faded-printIt may interest people to know that the bass on this song was recorded using an Aria Pro II, which is what John Taylor used on some of the early Duran albums. The keyboards are an Oberheim OBX-A and an Elka Rhapsody string synth.

Like this one a lot...definitely more fully formed and coherent than the first demo you posted. This has a great sound balance, and its "The American"esque bassline could fit in with any classic era Simple Minds or Duran Duran song, yet also stands on its own just fine.
Well done!

Thanks for the comments. errbt - I think my brother was inspired by 'The American' with this particular bassline. At first, I was concerned that the song might sound a little too repetitive, but then again a lot of the older Simple Minds songs are like this ('Boys from Brazil', 'Sons & Fascination', 'Seeing Out The Angel' etc). We did try some variations but for some reason they just didn't sound right, so in the end it was decided to keep the same melody throughout. The other songs will probably be more of a progression towards developing our own unique sound, although with strong nods to Simple Minds, Japan and perhaps Duran Duran along the way too. This is only the beginning though, watch this space...
