That's very very sad. I grew up with her music and was dating my first girl friend when her song "I Love You" was being played in 1977.
The first song Simon Le Bon sung as lead singer of Duran was "I Feel Love" on 16 July 1980 at the Rum Runner.
Her music was also played by Nick Rhodes at the Rum Runner.

Sad.
It reminds of my college days in the '90s when the coolest thing going was having a disco theme party...talk about dancing your ass off til the wee hours of the morning.
RIP Ms. Summer, your contribution to music will not soon be forgotten.
